Things that annoy me (1 Viewer)

San Antonio and Austin’s mid 90 degree temperatures half way through October.

Again, people really have to stop wondering why it is so inexpensive to live here.

How about the traffic??? I went to visit my brother in Austin in September of 2024. It was really hot and the traffic was very very heavy everywhere we went. I'm from Missouri and we can also get heavy traffic on some of the highways but nothing close to what what Austin and San Antonio get. I was also shocked to see the amount of homeless people in San Antonio.

I find it incredibly annoying that Cackling Kamala Harris really believes that she was the most qualified person to have ever run for president of the United States. That's a rare kind of delusional!
The thought that there was even a chance she could have been elected president sends shivers down my spine. I will say right after the Democratic Convention I thought she was going to win. But the more she cackled and said nothing she started the downward slide.

''At the moment, to avoid any disappointment, previews of prototypes will no longer be shown.
This is mainly due to the uncertainty of the Tariff situation.
The Monday news updates will be postponed until further notice.
The Advent Calendar at this time will also be cancelled.
Monthly releases will of course be continued.''

The sports betting mania is coming home to roost in the NBA. Anyone could see this coming with all the money involved and barriers breaking down. I wouldn't be surprised if numerous refs are on the take in every sport. Time to go to AI or technology to make the calls.

I am waiting for a scandal to unfold in the MLB. The MLB was able to bury the Ohtani scandal as they found easy scapegoats in poor record keeping and an interpreter.

I wonder if any MLB umpires bet on the games as they can easily control the over and under totals for walks and strikeout. I think this the main reason MLB is going to the strike box.

The is NFL ripe for scandal with all of the late pass interference calls and the ever-present holding call and these are just a few ways the refs can control the game.

Games do not have to be thrown, just enough shenanigans to cover the point spread.

I am not sure as to why anyone would bet on a sport game.

The NFL has been rigged for years; first against the Patriots, the league tried everything they could to derail the 20 year/6 Super Bowl wins dynasty, going so far as suspending Brady for 4 games not for being guilty of anything, but being "generally aware" that footballs were deflated, now it's been rigged for Mahomes, anyone who thinks any team in the AFC has a shot to get to the Super Bowl other than the Chefs is kidding himself, the way is being paved for a Chefs win/Kelce retires and rides off into the sunset with his fleabrained fiancé and Mahomes gets reestablished as the face of the NFL and he's the new GOAT.

As I understand it, you can bet on about just everything that happens in a game. So the players can ensure that they don't score a certain number of points to win bets. The refs are the biggest vulnerability since they get paid less and have less to risk. Holding or PI can be called on just about any play in college or pro football. Just drop the flag at the right moment and the outcome is changed. That already happens in most conferences to keep the playoff teams in contention.

The players and umpires probably have their brothers or other family members place the bets. I have no faith in the integrity of the game.

The best part of this is ESPN desperately trying to bury this story amongst a garbage NFL Thursday night game.

A coach and players are rigging games that have a direct influence on outcomes of a professional sport.

ESPN says nothing to see there, “look at Justin Herbert throwing an incompletion. In other news a few guys tried to make what might be illegal bets in the NBA….”

Interesting that NBA players and coaches are involved in cheating scandals given the monetary value of their contracts (Billups made $106M as a player). Greed knows no limits I guess.

must have pissed off a ton on $$$!
career earnings $130 million...only $30 left

There is so much money involved in sports gambling - directly or indirectly - that the corruption runs deep. And the Portland coach was making $24 million per year. You have to wonder why he would bother with gambling. It can't be about money.

The news cycle is so bizarre that when the President announces that some private individual has written a $130 million check to pay the military during the shutdown, it hardly gets a mention. I'm sure there are a thousand different reasons this can't happen, but it is just another sign of how strange things have got.

This is just saying the obvious, but that's why we were so concerned in previous generations, to ban gambling on professional sports, to keep them as free of gambling as possible. It's more a sign of a decline in our society that we've just accepted sports gambling so readily. We go for the immediate high, the excitement, and don't think about any long-term effects. Human nature doesn't change.

Prost!
Brad
