There is nothing civilized about allowing a murderer to live, having visitation from friends and family while his/her life (food, housing and healthcare etc.) are all paid for by a law abiding society.

Meanwhile their victim’s families have nothing but memories of the innocent life that was taken from them.

You will have to tell me which airports as this was a topic of conversation with my seatmate on Thursday's flight. Maybe I am lucky, but just have not seen it. Like I said, I can only think that the news crew is looking at busy times. NOW, one other thing is I go thorough Precheck, so that may account for it. Then again, I feel like everyone has precheck nowadays, but that may be why it looks different to me.

Tom...I watched Tony Llamas last night...the reporters were showing incredibly long lines at the airports...maybe it was at "peak time"...but interviews with passenger in these lines were claiming they were advised to arrive 4 hours earlier before their flight and claimed to be waiting 2-3 hours in long lines...the airports they cited were Houston Hobby that was 51.5% short handed...JFK that was 29.5% understaffed and Atlanta which was 32.3% understaffed...all due to TSA agents quitting or calling in sick...

I worry that these sardine packed terminals are easy targets for domestic terrorism attacks...and while I don't subscribe to ICE's previous tactics that have come under much scrutiny...even from the current administration...referring to them firing both Bovino and Noem's ...maybe "extra security" would be a safe idea...

but I believe Trump's true agenda is not security from domestic attacks in the airport...but as he said... “the immediate arrest of all Illegal Immigrants who have come into our Country.”...if this is just another ploy to magnify his immigration arrests and detentions numbers...that's not the kind of security I am hoping for...

Don't get me wrong...if you're not a legal resident of the USA...in my opinion...you should be deported...I'm okay with that...

but do it by the books...full disclosure to the public...an expedited day in court...a full application of habeas corpus...everybody should get their day in court...not thrown in a detention center for 6 months...

if you're awaiting for an application to become a legal resident of the USA...you should also get your day in court...I'm big on the Constitution...

while the funding for ICE in the future is a contested issue...I believe ICE still has tons of money left in their budget to go anywhere they are sent...

Don't disagree with any of your points in the least. Unfortunately, seemingly every approach over the last 25 years has eventually deteriorated and been mired in crapola for a myriad of reasons. On a flip note, a current positive is the reduction of border crossings.

It is a very difficult issue no matter how you look at it in my opinion.

Approximately 10-20 million people were allowed to enter the country by ignoring the law. No one on the left ever indicated the law should be applied to that situation. Now they are arguing that the letter of the law be applied to deport millions of people that they allowed to enter illegally.

A terrible tragedy, but meanwhile dozens of people died in automobile accidents and they don't lead the national news. The story about air travel is not the occasional accident but the miracle even in the age of Idiocracy that they are not crashing left and right. Too few air traffic controllers. Corporate greed and cost cutting. It is a recipe for disaster but air travel is still incredibly safe. It amazes me with all the things that can go wrong including mechanical, weather, human error that there isn't a crash every day.

CNN has added a TSA airport delay tracker to its gas price tracker. No bias there. I don't recall the gas price ticker when prices were even higher under Biden. Will they continue to track it when prices go down? And there are wait times of up to 15 minutes in some major airports! Wow. I haven't been to a major airport in 20 years that I didn't have to wait in security lines for 20 or more minutes. I realize it is longer in some places but maybe they fund them.

Can confirm I flew out of Baltimore, landed in Austin today and no real delays at TSA. My precheck was 2 mins and in Austin, no lines I saw when leaving airport. So, I don't know, I think there are certain airports that appear to be hit harder b/c BWI and AUS are not small airports.


So there you go, I am lucky where I fly I guess.

You know I think the same thing. Thousands & thousands of flights every day and no accidents. My wife flew to Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago and I was worried about her flying but then I thought she had a much greater chance of being in an accident in the car she was in driving to the airport. I do remember the first couple of times I flew when the plane landed the passengers clapped!

I too am extremely tired of the news showing air crashes...way overdone...especially the ones that have nothing to do with air traffic controllers...seems like every night on the news they have some very small plane that had an emergency crash landing on a highway...or a helicopter that crashed with some type of mechanical failure...or a 2 seater that landed in someone's swimming pool...

not to sound ghoulish...but sometimes the news takes stories too far...i.e. the Guthrie abduction

It seems to be happening at major airline hubs which is obviously a problem.

I have flown on average every two weeks for the past 15 years. I have found hubs to consistently be huge choke points for many reasons, passenger volume, staffing, weather etc.

Agree. Lax and sfo are always painful 365 a year! I am lucky so far at bwi as that is the major hub but so far so good. Hopefully it ends soon and the press can find a new story.

Any early takers on HOF vote for Rock Hall? Here is my bet, hope I am wrong - Iron Maiden and Billy Idol get screwed again. Phil Collins will get in this time. And by the way "New Edition" is leading the fan vote if you are interested.......................................

On other news, still can't get over LC Greenwood AGAIN not in the Pro FB Hall of Fame. How hard is it to get it right? Who cares how many players a team has in the HOF, why does that matter? The Steelers had some of the most iconic players ever to play the game, they just so happened to be on one team and they were universally recognized by everybody including fans except the Hall of Fame. Unbelievable when you think about it.

Why these organizations exist at times is beyond me. And Baseball's is no different. Took them to Dave Parker's death bed to undo the grudge. Guess Barry Bonds will suffer the same fate. On Bonds, love him or hate him, he already had numbers worth of HOF long before the steroid scandal. His bat speed and hitting ability alone are enough. Peter Rose, another ridiculous snub, I don't care who he bet on, if Ty Cobb is in there, then it should be open to anyone with the stats, ability and longevity. Cobb was an outright degenerate and bad person, but his baseball ability was not ever in questions.

At least Boxing has always got it right, about the only HOF I can think of that has. Iron Mike Tyson was never a truly good person (although I think he has tried to do better over the years), but in his heyday, name one opponent who really wanted to get in the ring with him other than the Buster Douglas fluke.

That Guthrie story being forced down our throats every day is beyond tiresome. You would think this is on the same level as the Lindbergh kidnapping. I may be prejudice because I can't stand samantha guthrie after the way she treated Trump in one of those debates. But enough is enough. At this point a bigger news story would be my mailman is running late!
