Things that I really like (11 Viewers)

If Houston can shoot threes like that, the Lakers are in trouble. I don't think they can keep that up. Ayton was the only guy on the Lakers who played well. Smart was awful. Kennard was awful. Too many turnovers again and they couldn't hit the threes.
Doug...I'm delighted the Lakers advanced...such a strange game for Houston...I don't think I have ever actually seen a 27-3 run in basketball...seems like the Rockets were stuck in the 30's the entire 2nd quarter and some of the 3rd...18% from the 3 for the Rockets...the old "live and die by" the 3 pointer game plan just didn't pan out for them...with no clear or significant progress yet for a potential return for Doncic...the OKC series is gonna be very hard to watch...I don't think the Lakers will even make it competitive getting swept embarrassingly in 4...unlikely to replace Doncic's 33 points per game...

Jason...

why did I become a Laker's fan?

I fell in love with the razzle dazzle fast paced offense in the early 80's that came to be known as "Showtime"...

I had never seen anything like it before in the NBA...everybody running full speed...
Cooper inbound pass Worthy...he would pass Wilkes...who would pass to Magic who would pass behind his back to Jabbar...then a dunk...

nobody even dribbled the ball...the ball never even touching the court floor...never saw anything like that before in my life...
that run and gun...flashy...high speed offense just amazed me...

I loved watching their championship games against the Celts...76ers and Pistons...

to me...those 80's Championship games between the Lakers and Celts were the unparalleled standard and epitome of great basketball to me....

I even named one of my dogs Magic... ;)

Never have been a Rockets fan even though Toyota Center is only 1 hour from my house...

In Texas...you pick your teams...basketball/baseball/football...

I live close to Houston...but am not a Texan's fan...I'm a Cowboy guy...

I was born in Dallas and went to SMU...but am not a Ranger's fan...I'm an Astro's guy...

never cared for the Mav's either...
Modern NBA teams wouldn't have a clue how to run a fast break; NBA point guards are a thing of the past, just like for the most part centers are, the NBA is all about 3 point shooting now, period, full stop.

Look no further than the Celtics/76er's game the other night; Embid gets the ball at the top of the free throw circle and Pritchard, a midgetous guard is guarding him, Embid starts to back his way towards the basket, I'm thinking "He's either going to shoot over him or drive to the basket"; what does he do?

HE KICKS IT OUT TO A GUY ON THE WING.............who heaves up a 3 point shot that clangs off the rim...........the stiff who shot it was 3-20 at that point in the series........what are we even doing here?

I got a gold laugh from the Saturday morning sports talk radio host this morning ranting and raving about the Celtics/76er's series; "People are pretty negative about the Celtics now and who can blame them, look at all the success Embid and the 76er's have had the past several years, all those trips to the finals, all those championships, no wonder Celtics fans are worried"...........;).

I still think they are going to lose, but he's right; what a completely underachieving stiff Embid is.

And Paul George too, another underachieving stiff who's won exactly nothing his entire career.

George...

Boston will win by 20+ points...I guarantee it... ;)

As my best friends Son said last night while we watched the Bruins season go up in smoke "We'll know within the first 5 minutes of the game who's going to win" and he's right.

If Embid goes off, if Maxey keeps driving to the basket/hitting shots off of those illegal Embid screens/if the Celtics are heaving up 3's and they are clanging off the rim, they're toast.

And it will 100% be time to break up the J's, losing to a sh$t Miami team in the ECF in the bubble in that fraud of a season in 2020 and again in the ECF in 2023, losing to a aging/basically toast Golden State team in the 2022 finals when they were up 2-1 at home and leading in the 4th quarter only to blow the game and then lose the next 2 to losing to a mediocre at best Knicks team last year, blowing not one but two 20+ point leads in games 1 and 2.

They combined for exactly one title; not good enough, one of them has to go.

A nice win. The LA Times had the Lakers going to the championship game when they were up 3-0. After they lost two games, it was the end of times. They were going to be the first team to blow a 3-0 series lead. And so forth. It does amaze me how different these teams looked from game to game. Houston couldn't miss a shot in game five. They couldn't hit a shot last night.

George has often said that hockey players are just different/better than any other athletes in any sport.

Connor McDavid played in the first round of the NHL playoffs with a fractured bone that connects his ankle to his foot.

One doctor said that sleeping with that type of pain is terrible, walking on it would be excruciating and skating on it is nearly impossible.

Yet Kevin Durant sat out multiple crucial elimination NBA playoff games with an ankle bruise.

George...
I did not know that Jayson Tatum was a scratch for Game 7...2 hours before tip off...hard to replace his scoring and leadership...
I apologize for talking all that trash about how it was gonna be a blowout for your Celts...I truly believe Boston would of won if he were in the game...
injuries in the playoffs...the great equalizer...
can make a fantastic team not so good...

I was shocked at how Philly played. They were clearly the better team last night. I saw Boston trounce them in game four and look like a contender. That was not the same team on the court last night. Boston hung tough to avoid being blown out but were outclassed.

I didn't know either, the final nail in the coffin.

No worries on you being confident they'd win, I wasn't feeling it and that's a wrap.

Mazzulla put out a G league line up to start the game, what on earth was he doing, they were down 17-6 and that was the game, they had the lead ONCE in the entire game, by one point, down 5 at the half, got their doors blown off in the 3rd quarter (like they have over and over and over), stormed back to get within one, had THREE wide open looks in a row and couldn't make a shot.

Maxey and Embid went off, scored more than half of their teams total points between the two of them, no answer on defense for either one of them. If there is a bigger flopper in the league than Embid, show me who it is, I'd like to meet him, he had about 9,000 trips to the free throw line last night, I thought in a game 7, the home team gets most of the calls; Embid at one point HACKED Brown's arm off on a dunk, no call, he had two fouls, that's nuts.

How the Hell where the 76er's a 7 seed BTW/had to do the play in nonsense; in games 1, 3 and 4 they looked like a play in 7th seed, not so much in the other games.

I hate, hate, HATE the Celtics offensive approach; zero ball movement, they constantly hunt 3 point shots, that's not basketball to me.

If I'm the GM, I find a big man who can play defense and rebound, could care less about him scoring, I trade Brown for a haul and I fire Mazzulla, one championship/trip to the finals with this group is totally unacceptable, he'd be gone if I was the GM.

Considering they gutted the team in the off season/traded Holiday/Porzingus, let Kornet and Horford walk due to this BS getting under the luxury tax apron, considering Tatum only played 16 games, finishing second was quite an achievement, but this is Boston, anything less than a trip to the finals is not ideal.

Plus who's sh%tting who here; no shot they would have beaten the Knicks and if by some miracle they did, they would have gotten rolled in the finals by OKC/San Antonio.

What an embarrassment; the announcers should have mentioned a few hundred more times about how the Celtics have never lost a series up 3-1/32-0 and the 76ers haven't beaten the Celtics in a series since 1982/0-6, imagine going 1-3 at home, it is what it is, a complete choke job.

The 76ers did not win this series, the Celtics lost it, up 13 points in the close out game/game 5 and they couldn't finish them off.

I'm totally and utterly disgusted.

Bruins season over Friday at home; check.
Celtics season over Saturday at home; check.

I'm done with both sports until next fall, could give two sh$ts who wins either championship.

On the upside, you still have "Sedona" Mike to collect those AFC wild card t-shirts. I keep expecting him to get canned but he finally took the smart approach and shut up long enough to let the news cycle move on.

Great, thanks for your input.
