Things that I really like (10 Viewers)

Yes...it's fun to look at my portfolio again...

Nearly 80% of S&P 500 companies reporting so far in Q2 2026 have beaten earnings expectations, marking a sustained period of double-digit growth.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq and S&P 500 are rising on the back of massive investments in artificial intelligence, with chipmakers experiencing immense demand. Specific semiconductor stocks have driven significant gains.
Despite fears of even higher inflation, consumer spending remains strong and the economy is not as sensitive to energy price shocks as in previous cycles.

I can only imagine what the market might be at if we were not involved in a costly war...excessive government spending...gas prices had not escalated so much...the current inflation rate...and potential impacts from new tariffs and broader geopolitical tensions...
I know this will sound cynical, but if it isn't one thing it is another that causes short term market vibrations.

On another note, don't worry, gas was going up this time anyhow (as it always does), the demand of the summer traveler............................or at least that is what the news reports annually.

ON another note, here is something I found that made me literally laugh out loud, the writer deserves an award. I miss our family German Shepherds after 40 years, but my schedule has not allowed another one at the current time, however I am always looking. I was looking at Belgian Malinois lately and came across this https://www.wagtopia.com/search/pet?id=2374550&name=Axel+-+Formerly+Baxter+-+Located+in+FL

Again, read it for entertainment, IMO it is well worth the read! Make sure you click Load More under description

Tom...

yea...the "load more"...that was funny on Axel...

Malinois Shepherds are fantastic animals...
Superdogs...
the MVP Olympic Amazing Athlete of the dog world...
there was a time I was up for one after watching so many videos of them...
I saw videos of the climbing trees...fences...jumping unbelievable lengths and heights...
I had the hots to adopt one...
but a dog trainer (friend) talked me out of it...saying they require a lot of patience and training...
saying with my work schedule (long hours)...
it would be an injustice to the dog for me to adopt this breed...

Oh I Love it when rescues do fun bios!
My Duck had a great one. Rip's wasn't as interesting (they called him Henry), but his face caught me anyway!
I have considered fostering many times but fear I'd be a foster fail and have far too many dogs

I have had the beautiful and I mean that fortune of having 40 years of them - First - Brutus - dwarf purebred American shepherd. Great to grow up with. Next - Rebel - Full purebred American German Shepherd (He in all seriousness was a lot like Axel who I posted, just a wild decade had by all in the family!), next was Duke - Dutch Shepherd - he was the most trained and alert of all, very protective, but loved my son like a brother., finally Nero - Large (125lb) German Shepherd, he was all of the above and we went out on a high note, he truly has been hard to replace, the other reason for not having one currently.

The reason I may go for a Belgian is that the next one is going to be a one person dog (me) as my wife is not the dog lover and it actually may be better for all involved! I just have to have the time to dedicate to one of them.

Tom...

hahaha...Duke...what a coincidence...for real?

my family always had dogs...as a kid we had 2 dogs together for a while...a Dachshund named Debbie...and an American German Shepard named Duke...no lie...used to call him Duka Palooka...good house dog...friendly as could be...never hurt a flea...

and for some reason...and I don't know why...we had a big duck named Lucky...my father built a large cage for Lucky...2 x 4's and chicken wire...really sturdy...

one day we came home from a beach outing and Duke had flipped Lucky's cage over and tore Lucky up...broken neck...barely alive...feathers in Duke's mouth...

anyway...because he attacked the duck...my Dad said Duke has got to go...my sister was only about 5 years old...gotta be safe you know...and called the police department to see if they wanted him for a police canine...

an officer came out to see the dog...Duke was jumping all around excited...the officer clapped his hands real loud and Duke ran way from him and hid in the bushes...

officer said sorry...we can't use him...but Dad found a good home for him at a ranch on the west end of Galveston...

Duke...

Our Duke - favorite story - House needed outside electric work by local electric company. BGE guy comes to the door - Duke is standing next to me. Guy is a real arse in attitude and Duke is really eyeing him and I start to see the hair stand on his back. I knew this was game on for Duke. Guy sees this and says through the door, if we have to come in, then that dog needs to be put away. My calm reply - I don't see a reason why you would need to come in my house and NO the dog doesn't go away. Long story short, didn't see the arse again all day and problem with electric was fixed in record time. Duke eyeballed the guy through the door the whole time he was there. I smiled.

One more story - had Duke at our beach house, he loved the deck, we had a secure gate on it to keep others out (not to keep him in, he was well trained). Well, happy hour, have a drunken neighbor who wants to say hello, he thought it would be a great idea to climb deck steps while Duke is eyeing him with his back hair raised. Then he thought it was an even better idea to open gate and come in house. I am in second level kitchen and can't get there in time. By the time I arrive on deck, Neighbor is down, dog has him by his inner thigh (Just holding him, not breaking skin). Dog is removed, I help neighbor up and read him the riot act and of course apologize. He says sorry he wasn't thinking, we talk briefly, he leaves. He never climbed the deck stairs again as long as Duke was alive. When Nero came along, he always called first.

I love other people's dogs and cats. Had a couple of cats for many years but when they get old and sick it is rough. The vet costs and emotional toll when they finally pass is tough. Like losing a family member.

The market is roaring. I like it. Imagine what will happen when the conflict in Iran ends.
Trump said today that Xi and China would not supply Iran with weapons...have offered to mediate with Iran...has offered assistance to ensure navigation through the Strait of Hormuz...and opposes militarizing the Strait of Hormuz and levying a toll on the critical waterway amid the U.S. war in Iran...

Could this be true...I don't know...I hope some or all of this is true and might happen soon...lets get this thing settled...

I love it Mike. We can disagree about politics but agree on outcomes. It's unfortunate that most people can't apparently do this. Disagreement is not something to be condemned. People come from different walks in life and can have civil disagreements on methods without it becoming personal. I can say that mostly because you are a Lakers fan, though. LOL.

Yes, it's like losing a family member. When we lost our last two dogs, I told my wife "I can't go thru this again" and decided against another pet.

At one time we had 5 cats; one by one, they all went to the rainbow bridge to wait for me when I cross over, losing each one was more painful that the last one, I too told my girlfriend I can't do this anymore...............for 2.5 years I stuck to it...........then two tuxedo kittens came our way, we adopted them...........they are outstanding, they light up my life with their non stop comedy..............just think of it as you're a good pet owner and there are thousands of pets out there that need a good home.

They give love unconditionally, pets are the bomb.

That was one of the most amazing goals that I have ever seen last night by Buffalo at a critical time. The puck hit the glass twice and then deflected off the goalie into the net without ever touching the ice.
BuffaLOLo got smoked tonight, up 3-2 then gave up 4 goals and lost 6-3.

They are one of the luckiest goals in the history of the playoffs away from being out, game 6 is in Montreal........................

Well said.
Three yrs after losing the last one we still expect to see them coming to the door when we come home.
