Things that I really like (1 Viewer)

The Arizona death row inmate who wants to expedite his execution.

His basic premise in his legal flings is that he did it, he pled guilty and the endless appeals are only prolonging the deserved inevitability of his death.

I abhor his crime but respect him for taking responsibility and accepting his fate.

This could easily go into the Things I Don't Like thread I think but here goes. "U.S. customers will have the ability to restock groceries "directly from the screens" of their Samsung Bespoke fridges thanks to an upcoming feature that combines Samsung’s "proprietary food recognition technology" with Instacart’s product-matching application programming interface." The refrigerators have cameras that recognize foods and will notify you that you are low on eggs, milk, etc. Then you can reorder from the 9" touch screen on the door. Updates will come via internet connection. Evidently Samsung has had fridges with technology for a while wit AI Family Hub+.

Despite the very chilly weather up here in deep blue New England, watching Kackling Kamala sadly tallying up the electoral votes today and proclaiming Orangeman Bad the election winner did soooo warm my heart. :giggle:

I heard on the radio this morning that Elvis would have been 90 years old today. It seems like he has been dead for an eternity, but he would be ten years younger than Jimmy Carter who just passed away and not much older than our current president. Coincidentally, it is also David Bowie's birthday. A lot of great music from those two. It's sort of a shame that Elvis has become some type of caricature, and his music has been neglected.

A man was seen carrying a blowtorch in the LA fire areas. Fortunately he was chased and subdued by citizens. He was arrested for probation violations. Wonder if can be charged for carrying the blowtorch which is technically illegal.

Will depend on DNA these days !

They let him go.

There was a guy in LA pouring milk on the fires around his house because he had no water. A few people stuck it out to try to save their houses. Pretty risky to possibly burn to death but many people will never be able to afford rebuilding in that area. A chicken shack in the Malibu/Pacific Palisades area would cost over a million dollars. I can't get enough of watching Newsom stand around with his hands in his pockets like he is in a Calvin Klein commercial and explain why none of this is his fault. When he was asked why there was no water, he said that was a "local" issue. Odds on our next president.

Watching UCLA basketball coach Mike Cronin go insane on the sideline. He is like Hitler in the bunker after got the news that Steiner was not coming to save Berlin. He recently called his own players delusional and soft. Refreshing honesty from a college coach but not likely to endear him to recruits.

The resignation of Jen Rubin from the Washington Post. A completely unhinged person. Good riddance.

The Village People performing at Trump's inauguration. We have come full circle. Granted there is some element of "Idiocracy" in all this but of the harmless kind. Jan. 20 feels a lot to me like the fall of the Berlin wall. A lot of the old, corrupt forces have been vanquished for the time being. What happens after that is unknown but has to be better than what came before it.

The absolutely amazing and inspiring pictures and videos of the efforts of first responders involved the LA firestorm.

I sat back in awe as I watched police vehicles driving into the fire zone to coordinate evacuations along with firefighters standing against walls of flames that stood 40 feet or higher.

The firefighter who stopped to comfort the stray dog amongst the apocalyptic flames (he was surrounded by fire as he kept his water focused on the flames but somehow was able to pet the scared pup) really sums up the heroic and selfless heart of those who choose this line of work.

Thanks for posting this very moving video. No telling how many pets were lost in the inferno.

"Number 24." A great Norwegian film about a leading member of the WWII resistance. It's on Netflix. Very moving and well done.

I don't even want to think about it. I love animals and it breaks my heart. Sad sad times out there.
