Here are the last ones South Africa ,Afghanistan and more home service light Dragoons. Also some images have come from "The Thin Red Line" by DSV and BK Fosten which is an excellent source on British Army Uniforms.

Hi Iwan,
many very nice pictures !
As your dealer for Germany I have to say, that whatever you will make of them, Napoleonics will be much better sellers at least here in Germany.
As your client and collector I would prefer the Sudan/Egypt themes (to add them to my John Jenkins Khartoum scenery), may be there are some more JJD sudan range collectors who would be happy to get some additional offers from you !?

Best
Marcus

Thanks Martin. I normally try to get as many sources as possible. Do you know the history behind this unit? I have often wondered. Was it just a company of postman? I think I will look it up.

Iwan

Hi Iwan

Check out the picture of the POR on this site, The British Postal Museum & Archive, although it is incorrectly dated 1892 it should be 1882

Looks the same as the one in the Osprey book

Cheers

Hi. I would be interested in the Sudan/Egypt and India and maybe S Africa if there was somthing different to the norm

Hi Marcus I know this range won't be so popular in Germany but I will still keep making the napoleonics.

Looking at the poll statistics most people say they would collect the soldiers if it was a range they already collect. As far as I know there are only 2 ranges which relate to this period the Sudan or War On the Nile and the Zulu Wars. I will not go near the Zulu Wars because they are well covered as it is and I could do a few for the Sudan or Egypt but I would like to cover something new.

I have a few napoleonics to do next, once they are done I will turn my attention to this line.

If you made the Post Office rifles, or some similarly unique regiment, that could go over well.

They may well do. They fought at Kassassin in 1882 the night before the battle of Tel El Kebir and were back in 1885 for the relief of Khartoum. So they are a possibility but it would only be 2 or 3 figures 4 at the môst.

Hi folks. Maybe this would be a good place to start.I have had several meetings with Lui the sculptor and he is very keen to do these he just loves action poses.
I know a couple of other manufacturers have done this range but JJD have not added to their range for a long time now and WB have let it slip over the last 2 or 3 years. Being a retailer I get to speak with a lot of customers who have lost interest in the range because the releases have been so far apart. I know its all down to sales and If line doesnt sell then the manufacturer cannot keep putting resources into it or they would not stay in business long.

If I take note of the poll then it shows a lot of collectors would buy into the range if it coincides with what they collect and this Egypt/sudan type range is about the only other British colonial range on the market in a high end matte finish.

We discussed the Post Office Rifles earlier and i think they would be a good unit to cover but they may be too much of a gamble at this point.

The picture below would make a lovely vignette. 6 British soldiers fighting for there lives would fit into most of your dios as they already are or a small separate vignette if you are new to the range.
Well I thought I would share our idea with you. No harm in that.

Hi Dave,
I agree with you! These are campaigns few have ventured into offering us good quality armies ( Maison has provided some nice sets, but the cover the second half of the 19ths short of the troops being given the Lee Metford rifles and Maxim machineguns..so any movement should consider that so as to avoid overlaps and still allow us collectors to add some fire power to the troops )....I my self love this period and neck of the Empire defending its frontiers....Here are some samples that I have been able to put together with the help of Obee.....:salute::

Cheers

I would be on this sort of range if it had Northwest Frontier sets like the Relief of Chitral or any number of other Indian Army related themes/figures. Would prefer action sets with the opposition forces as well.

What a great idea! ^&cool.....but you must start off with a load of dead and wounded Mahdists lying around on the ground (been asking WB for the last couple of years). :wink2:

If they fitted in size wise with WB you would get my vote and support.

Good idea about the Mahdist casualties, to be honest though I would not do them first maybe After I do the first release of British. I have thought about this and i am not sure how many I would sell at £40/$55 a figure they are not cheap. Another option would be to do them in a slightly cheaper paint job and do them in sets of 2(one dead and one dying) but i would have to do runs of around 300 which is quite large for me.

thanks for your feedback.

Iwan
