Everyone loves Tigers, and Andy says they sell...

...well how about a blown up Tiger? Dead crew lying about, hanging out of hatches etc. Maybe even a hole in the side of the turret?

Interesting and K&C have done battle damaged vehicles in the past and they always see to attract good prices in the secondary market on ebay, but with the cost of new vehicle releases now, it might be a slower seller.
You can always add some cotton wool etc smoke to a vehicle to give the impression of a knocked out tank. Dead crew figures hanging out of tanks would help that impression perhaps you could convert a figure or two. I think one maker did at least one dead crewman figure posed in one of their vehicles, it may well of been Robin in his long running thread Time on my hands at last.

True Steve, it was a TCS tank that had a crew figure hanging out of a hatchway. I have heaps of TCS tanks and vehicles that all came with the option of displaying with battle damage such as tracks and barrels. Robin.

Damaged vehicles are under-rated and incredibly useful.

I’d like to see some Sherman’s with their turrets blown off, no need to even include the turret, just the hull as that would keep the cost down etc.

Personally, I wouldn't pay top dollar for a destroyed vehicle.
Maybe a plastic model so its cheaper but dead crew etc yes for sure.

But...where did the turret go?😉

I bet all the Tiger Geeks would buy a destroyed Wittman Tiger.................

I like the Tiger I and i have 8 of the K & C versions, but for me i would like to see a new Elefant. A BergeTiger would be good, as would the Bergepanther redone in a winter scheme. I would really want a Centaur to support the British D Day and Normandy troops.

I'd imagine a damaged or knocked out model probably requires the same, if not more sculpting and painting as a non-damaged model which would probably make it the same price regardless.

Like you say, I doubt most collectors would want to pay top dollar for damaged one if that was the case?

The only way I see a damaged model being cheaper is if its kept really simply, like a blackened burnt out hull with parts missing as Jason suggests.

There's plenty of scope to do it, however not sure a TS manufacturer would want to experiment with such a concept?

I did like what TCS did providing a damaged option with some of their models which I thought was clever and creative, however this also probably contributed to the final retail price.

G’Day Toddy,
While I agree that Scott’s suggestion of a ‘knocked-out’ Tiger complete with dead and dying crewmen is an interesting one my own experience with ‘Kaput’ vehicles is a mixed one.

Back in the day we produced a knocked out Stug and even an abandoned Kubelwagen and also a disabled Sherman…They all sold reasonably well but nowhere near as well as fully functioning fighting vehicles!

’Dead and dying and wounded figures are always useful and definitely add something to a scene and/or diorama and K&C will continue to design and produce these to suit all kinds of historical scenarios in our ranges.

But as far as a ‘knocked-out’ Tiger is concerned…probably not. It’s also worth remembering that most Tigers that were not destroyed by Allied hands were usually abandoned for lack of fuel or engine breakdowns.

All the very best and a belated Happy New Year!

Thanks Andy, you raise some good points. :salute::

I have an excellent book about the NZ Division fighting in Italy with several great photos of abandoned Tigers and like you say most have either run out of fuel or simply broken down and been left.
Cheers.
