Time For Some New World War Two (1 Viewer)

Being focused on the US in WW@ I would quickly vote for more winter GIs. I DO agree that there is also room for some more nice British paras - the Red Devils are under represented in plastic. One advantage of British paras is that the uniform didn't change so much during the conflict. The US made a complete change of uniform between the Normandy drops and Market-Garden. Only one regiment was still in M1942 jump uniforms in Holland, so one can't use the Conte paratroopers for Holland, the Ardennes, etc. Still, the only decent plastic US paratroopers were the Conte set and they weren't "top of the line". Some British infantry to go with Weston's wouldn't be bad either, but hopefully the sets would be compatible. It's too bad the German paratroopers from Pegasus were too small, they are under modeled also. More US Marines couldn't hurt.

I'm sorry that the idea of doing limited edition resin "add on" figures didn't work out. I helped Nick with some converted figures but there were problems with the production.

Anyway, it will be nice to see TSSD getting back to their "roots" again.

MORE BRITISH PARATROOPS???!!!! CONTE = 16 poses + Revell = 10 poses + 21st CENT = 6 poses + ESCI= 7 poses + AIRFIX 7 poses??????
No more Brits are needed. Some GOOD German Para Tr. in OPEN SMOCKS MONTI CASINO STYLE!!! Thats whats needed. And some more winter Americans in long coats.

I'd like some grizzled Eastern Front German veterans like the kind of guys you see in the movie Cross of Iron, or the Sven Hassel war novels. Character figures with field caps, worn and weathered looking uniforms, unshaven, a man with one of those bundled multi-headed potato masher grenades like the grenadier in Revell's 1/72 winter Germans, and a few men armed with Russian PPSh submachineguns. Maybe some Siberian riflemen to oppose them would be nice too.

I would also love to see someone do 1/32 Vietnam War figures. I think a company called Gun-Ho was going to do Australians and Vietcong about 7 years ago but I do not know if they were ever released. The only other Vietnam era figures in 1/32 are the ancient Timmee "Army Men" figures that all of us who were kids in the early 70s or who enjoy Toy Story will remember. They are probably the worlds most recognized toy soldier set, and have iconic status, but they lack a little in the detail department.

Gun Ho did release Australians, I have them somewhere. But that was it for Vietnam. I think they are defunct now.

I second both of these wishes! Whatever TSSD releases, I'm sure it will be awesome, and I'll take two bags.

Yes, Some character figures from CROSS OF IRON would be great. Planning a Russian front war game ala Cross of iron and I have no Steiner figure!
Dragon makes set, but 1/35th.

Fubar, your Cross of Iron setup is INCREDIBLE! I wish I could come play at your house! WOW!

Larso, I noticed your post about a US halftrack earlier. Do you know about the CTS halftrack? 392_pd178601_1.jpg

Hello Mr FuBar
What size board is your Cross of Iron setup ?
It looks terrific !

Are you surprised?
Who would be stupid enough to start a line of NAM figures and not start with US Infantry or VC or NVA??????????

Actually Gun Ho had US & Vietnamese soldiers, but they were really expensive.

Well it was an Australian company. It was one of those ventures that probably was based on a personal interest (family involvement?) but the market down here is very small. (I tried to do WW1 Anzacs but they were a niche range in a niche hobby and it didn't last either.) I spoke to the guy once. If he'd managed to sell enough of the first sets he'd have done heaps more. Certainly there were more sculpts done. He also had cavalry and Apaches - I think I got some of those too.

Yep. I bumped my thread. It has a comparison photo. It's a nice enough effort but too small.

"Is this HALF TRACK in 1:32, or a 1:40th scale rip-off like the rest of their vehicles?"

Yep, though I dispute the rip-off line. CTS had the Marx rights and did their vehicles to fit in with those. I heard, when they picked up the Airfix rights, they wished they'd done them in 1/32 but who was to know? When I got my first tanks they were very clear to me that they were not 1/32 but would fit in. I think they do when they're used just with infantry but not when you've got BMC or any other 1/32 tanks.

I think a proper soft plastic US halftrack, matching the Airfix hanomag, would be a massive seller. I think TSSD should give that a shot.

Gun-Ho was an Australian company, therefore it was their interest to put out Aussies first. They followed them up by sculpting NVA figures. They had both in metal and put out the Aussies in plastic as well, before the company essentially went under. The only other plastic set they did was US cavalry of the Plains Wars.

I have the Cav figures, had a chance to grab the Vietnam figures when the first came out, but I passed for some reason (really wish I would have grabbed them!!). Now I'm curious if he still has an inventory of the plastic figures for sale....

Did they ever actually release their Apaches in plastic, or did I dream that up?

How did you score the T-34 (76) ?
Conversion with a 1:35 kit?

Britain's from 7-8 years ago. The Frog was selling them for $25.00 each in 3 different paint schemes. I got six.Actually very nice models. I did a little weathering to them.
Forces of Valor KV1 and T34/85. Hoped they would do an SU 85 but not thus far. I keep wondering why not? Same with a n M10 or even an M7. They have the Sherman chassis already.
My war game table is 6' x 16'.

I'm not sure if they went under but rather the owner just moved on to more important life issues....He must have only done a very small run of the plastic.
As you don't se them around for sale any were?
