Too pedantic? (1 Viewer)

You know...if you plan on taking any photos of yor diorama...just make sure they are blurry...then whose to know?! :)

Just curious to hear your thoughts, guys.
I have just removed my 3rd Division troops (DD 033) from my current D-Day dioramas.
Every time I looked at them, there with my Rangers, or next to my the Big Red 1, I've thought - you worked hard, but were nowhere near Normandy (to my knowledge).
I'm going to put them with the M8, which has the same insignia, and keep them in a smaller separate vignette.
The same thing, to a greater extent, keeps me from mixing my Americans with my Brits on the beach displays. (I know there was a small mixture at D-Day, but I can't have Lovat's boys running alongside my Rangers, can I?)

So - what do you guys do? Follow history, as best you can, or just create something for the look/ feel of it?

My apologies if this has come up before (as I am sure it has) I am fairly new here...

Hi,
I always follow history. I take real events that happened during the war as a reference. If the K&C releases do not match what I want to make, I simply adapt the figures so that they are historically correct. I want my dio's to be historically and also geographically correct. This means sometimes
repainting the K&C firgurines completely or simply changing the badges on their uniforms. It also envolves a lot of construction ( or demolition) work. You will see what I mean 1st week of september when I will put pictures of two new dio's on the treefrog forum. Other examples of what I mean you will find in my "albums"
That is my point of view, you are of course free to do whatever you like to do.It is your collection. You'r the Commander in Chief of your mini army

Thats the great thing with the hobby one can do whatever you want. If you want to do the real history thing you can or you can go along with what is released. Nobody is right and nobody is wrong.

Look forward to the pics of your dio's
Mitch

Good idea and I reckon even I could manage to replace a Divisonal transfer on a vehicle if I so desired.

Do you have a favorite geographical area, such as Normandy/Western Front?

K&C’s Shotgun Production?

Hi Guys,

Contrary to what my Aussie friend “OZDIGGER” is saying…K&C and yours truly actually sit down… think a lot… consider what we ‘re doing…discuss with dealers and some collectors… look at sales… think again… and then and only then actually put items into production.

Not exactly a “shotgun approach on production” methinks.

I think what might confuse our friend is that K&C has a long term plan… works towards it…and actually produces what we decide on… when we decide on it and…deliver it to our collectors… month after month after month.

Best wishes and happy collecting!

Re: K&C’s Shotgun Production?

Andy, my 'shotgun' comment was in reference to the wide variation of Divisions (and battles etc) in the K & C Waffen SS range, and not a comment about how the decision is made.

Your good friend

Yes I do
Battle of the Bulge, D-day landings and the Battle of Normandy and everything that has to do with the invasion and the liberation of my country ( Belgium)
Special interest also for the "Brigade Piron" Belgian armoured brigade that fouhgt alongside the British in the Battle of Normandy. The brigade liberated several coastal villages in Normandy, such as Amfréville,Franceville, Merville,Cabourg,Deauville ( le pont des Belges), Trouville, Pont-l'Evêque,Honfleur and were then withdrawn to participate in the liberation of Brussels.

It reminds me of the Queen song 'another one bites the dust' I love this site
