Tour de Australia (1 Viewer)

i would really really really like some fallschirmjager for normandy, anybody else in favor of these?

I would like to see them too...maybe a remaster of the old fallschirmjager or in new poses. That would be nice.

Great to hear what's on the horizon. I'm most interested in another WWII desert jeep and how it will look compared to this guy:

I'm thinking Rat Patrol!

Okay; no new Kriegsmarine or a sub - I'm going to give this one up at this time (I suppose we beat it up enough over the past week in the Return of the Seawulf topic).

In any case, sounds like some good stuff!

The dinner did indeed go very well. The crowd was a bit larger than last year and there were a few new faces which is hopefully indicative of a growth in interest in the dioramas specifically and the hobby at a more general level. It was also heartening to see people excited about not only our dioramas but at the prospect of 'giving it a go' themselves. This can only be a good thing for the TS community in Queensland as new members continue to arrive in the hobby by different though complementary routes. For all our work, one of the highlights was seeing the reaction of the crowd to the arrival of the model of the German submarine. I liked the fact that though there was a general, though not universal, consensus that a submarine would be difficult for a major manufacturer, it was possible for a few individuals to create something quite special themselves.

We published a commemorative booklet again this year which was very well received. Forty A4 pages of beautiful colour pictures signed by Andy and Gordon ensured that we sold two thirds of them in what seemed like a few minutes.

My wife and I welcomed good friends from the UK the morning after the dinner and they have come to us via Rhodesia, South Africa and the UK, and they have marvelled at how beautiful Brisbane is and pointed out things I just drive by without giving a second glance. It was a reminder of how lucky we are to live where we do. I felt the same way at the dinner. There was so much positivity, so much joy at a shared participation in this wonderful hobby and a good deal of spirited discussion that it really showed the hobby and collectors at their best.

I would like to thank the diorama guys, Andy and Gordon for making the trip again this year, and Brett and Gerelou Williams for their generosity. It was a night to remember and one which left us with some great ideas for the future.

Regards
Jack

Tuesday in Victoria

The dinner in the coutry side outside Melbourne (Donnybrook) on a cold and wet winter's afternoon / evening was a great success :)

Early in the afternoon Andy met local collectors in Howard ' shop / museum, then gave a talk about the wonderful dioramas that Gordon had crafted. Unfortunately Gordon was unwell, the shellfish for dinner was creating havoc, so he stayed in the city.

Dinner followed at the 'famous' Donnybrook Hotel where about 40 guest enjoyed good old Aussie pub food, followed by the usual Q&A by Andy.

All those who attended had a great time and thanked Jenni and Howard for their wonderful hospitality.

I hope to post a couple of images on the weekend when I get back to the West.

Thanks again Jenni & Howard,

John

A very special day in Adelaide with Howard, Andy and Gordon (the 3 musketters) hosting a great afternoon/night. The guests had a lot of one on one time and pushed their wishes accordingly. For me very content with upcoming info for the series I collect. Although nothing specific ( chose not to press, rather be surprised), but this year I will get to add, Market Garden, English Civil War, Life of Jesus, Home Guard and Aurstralian Light Horse (2016). The 4 musketters should be out in August and the samples were on display, I thought about lifting them, but Andy was watching me like a hawk. The new tales of Sherwood series are a must have for me, out soon also. So I am one very happy collector. Robin.

Hi Wayne and Scott,

Thanks for sharing the horizon as to what will come and what will not come.....seems Napoleonics is still a great venue and cash cow!

Now what about more desert village diorama props...more fortress walls, corner towers and houses....this is such a versitile segment of props that can accomodate our diorama needs from Pharos, Romans, Nativity, Napoleonics, British Northwestern Fontier, WW1 and WW2 periods to use them on multiple famous battle options......can you pass this over to Andy? The last we saw were just e few low walls that were great additions to come up with some internal Garden sorts of .....but not more than that as far as defensive walls.....
Cheers
Luiz

As Wayne said, lots of good stuff on the way, with plenty of surprises to boot, but no spoilers cause Andy & Gordon have a ton of ground to cover as they drift across the wonderful land of Oz.^&grin .....

Cheers from ya dodgy Kiwi cousin and mate....Toddy{sm4}

Okay, now that Andy's visit has concluded and there being no risk of spoilers for others downunder what can be shared with collectors from elsewhere ? More Naps Hussars, what further details can be shared ?

Asked Gordon for more Desert Village and he confirmed 'yes'. Another winner. Robin.

As promised, now that I'm back home in a warmer climate, I've downloaded the photos of Tuesday evening, and here are some:

Hi OD, you can pretty much guarantee more Naps, but not being a Nap collector I really couldn't tell you what's in store. I think someone like 'Obee' would be the best to ask that question or other Oz Nap collectors that attended the dinners etc.

Got it...

Noted. Must make it there the next time we travel to Oz. Peter Nathan had all of my business the last time we were there.
Won't be for a while though...currently working in Euro locales while we're stationed here.

ATW!
