Toy Soldier Secondary Market – Is it a “Buyers” or “Sellers” Market? Why? (1 Viewer)

Rob think it would be good if we could hear the opinions of KC UK on how they see the UK toy soldier hobby at the moment don't you to give a different opinion .As for ra ra or doom and gloom just think it down to how much money you got to spend and wanting value for money nothing wrong with that

It would indeed Neil, Tony used to post often on here but around the time of all the K&C V FL rubbish he stopped posting as often , maybe like others he just had enough of it?

Thanks for the kind words Rob, I'm just one guy with one opinion, if my sales were in toilet, I'd be the first one to tell you.

Sorry I missed the trip, I had planned on coming over with Nicolas from Crown Miniatures to assist him at the show, then join in the group activities and also sneaking over to Waterloo for a couple of days, but we just couldn't pull it off this time.

I will get to that side of the pond, guaranteed.......

Cheers George, drinks on me when you do.

Civil War era prices seem to be up lately, could be cause of the 150th anniversary. All I know is it tougher finding a bargain.

It seems to be my fault. I didn't realize my selfishness could cause an entire industry to spiral into the ground. But stating it that way it sounds like Andy thinks prices are already being kept artificially high. Sounds like he wants me to subsidize K&C for the sake of the TS industry. And then he accuses me of "Terry can be as selective as he chooses and buy just what he likes…providing, of course, if the price is right." Yes Andy - that is exactly what customers do and is exactly what I posted in the original thread on this topic in response to what joegis posted. Please re-read the joegis post carefully to see where I am at in collecting because his summary suits my current position. And no need for the overdone sarcasm. When you try to stamp out a contrary opinion rather than respond to it as an adult, you usually end up with your own boot in your mouth. {eek3}:smile2:

Best wishes and happy collecting

Excellent Post:salute::

Didn't read through the entire thread tonight, so I don't know if this has been mentioned before.
Thought it might be an indication of a trend to the "Buyer's Market".

I am watching ebay and occasionally dealing there, buying and selling, for more than ten years now.
For several years the average number of listings for items by Britains was at around 3000 and the number of listings for K&C items usually was around 1600 to 1800.

When looking in a few minutes ago, the Britains listings count is at some 4100 and the K&C count is at around 5000 !!!

Looks like more and more items coming up for sale, and with that being the case it will be very hard for sellers to maintain a decent level of prices.
That still doesn't count for some of the very "hard to find" sets, but the average figure or set offered, will most likely get more attractive for the buyer, I think.

I agree that it is a buyers market. But I think that one of the reasons there is so much K&C on ebay the past few years is because dealers are using ebay like a store. Of the 3400 K&C items on ebay right now,2000 are "buy it now" at full retail price becuase the dealers can't discount. The other 1400 K&C listings are auctions by ordinary collectors etc. (not dealers)

No doubt about it Terry. It is all your fault. How are you going to live with all that guilt.

In regards to the secondary market.
My observation is there is healthy demand at fair prices I see items listed for over inflated prices on E-bay {eek3} It needs a mechanism to purge those auctions i.e. seller cannot relist an item that has not sold after a month for an extended period etc...I,m not sure what the answer is but as an active buyer i would like a tool where i could block certain speculative sellers.
From my search as its plain annoying these sellers are taking up a more and more greater share of listings.
Like many i enjoy the hunt for hard to get items on E-bay but unless i can find/network using different tools its becoming a little less enjoyable.
(Only my opinion :p.)
