The media has gotten so much wrong about this case, it's hard to know what is true. I do wonder why none of the family members apparently came forward when the photos were released. I would think that anyone who knew these guys would have recognized them from those pictures. The older guy was even married. Didn't his own wife recognize him? It might have saved the life of the cop if someone had tipped them off earlier. It would be interesting to know when the authorities got the first leads on who these guys were. Or did they have nothing until the car jacking that night?

The Russian's as it's being told...made two separate efforts to warn us about Tamerlan being a radical jihadist...they informed the FBI & CIA...So while he is surfing the web on jihadist sites on how to build bombs running around in known Al Queda territory on vacation , & collecting welfare while doing it...He recruits his brother who is getting a scholarship also paid by the US tax payer...So basically the US government was supporting him & his brother since his source of income was welfare technically the US Government paid the money to build the bomb...You just can't make this stuff up !!
All the while this is going on , at every airport in the nation five year olds are being frisked & old ladies pulled out of lines to be interrogated for possible terrorism...!?
While Russia is on the phone to the CIA , saying UMM You guy's might want to keep an eye on this guy...The US reply...Not now we just caught an old lady with some nail clippers & a five year old with a bottle of evian water , keeping people safe !!

I agree there is a lot of nonsense that goes on at the airport that is not helpful and is even counterproductive to security. For example, once airlines started to charge for checking luggage it resulted in more and more people carrying bags through security which have to be screened. A simple measure to improve security is to prohibit airlines from charging for bags or prohibit people from carting anything on the plane except a few personal items. Obviously, the current goal in not security but profit. On the Russian intelligence, there are likely tens of thousands of suspect people in this country. Most of whom will never commit any terrorist act. It's a very difficult situation to predict which are dangerous enough to act.
