This is my report on Trophy soldiers at MFCA Show this week.
Well they did not have many, only one gentleman (Ed) from Gettysburg had some interesting sets including an Arab Dhow. However I could not justify paying his high prices (cash only)...A Dhow was very nice but had only 4 figures crew instead of usual 7 and had "bare metal" barrel instead of usual black...
Other dealers mostly had just a few single Trophy soldiers...
However I still managed to find and secure some interesting pieces.
1. Staff Car with an interesting variation: Lord Roberts with his wife (instead Aide de camp) and his driver. I have never seen this car in original box as well... It was "find of the day" which tops even an Arab Dhow "close encounter"
2. A very early Trophy Gurkha figure, which does not even look like a Trophy but was confirmed to be authentic by two reputable Trophy dealers.
3. Two early Highlanders (with oval bases) and a Sudan soldier in khaki uniform with a cup of tea but with WHITE base (Martyn should know what set did t come from)...
4. Two Trophy civilians : an early Chimney cleaner and a newsboy.
5. ZS42 "Taunting Zulus" in perfect condition in its box (not shown)...
