So which ranges are your favorites? For me it's Town & Country and Indian ranges.

38 and trophy only for a few years. For the most part only the civilian stuff. I've been collecting toy soldiers since I was around five though

I'll be 38 on the 12th, and I have been collecting Trophy since the late '80's, with a long hiatus during college and my 20s.

55years young, i stumbled into the 1995 ostn chicago show and bought my first two sets of trophy, a blackwatch kneeling to repel and a french guard advancing set from stonecastle miniatures, i also met andy and picked up my first kc sets which were the british arnhem sets. wow what a show. i started collecting in 1965 collecting britains french foriegn legion and arab sets and of course i had a great grandma who bought me warriors of the world plastics painted figures. its been a great hobby

Started collecting Trophy in 1981 and loved almost all their ranges.
Their Napoleonics were my favorite followed by The Sudan, Zulu War, ACW, AWI, Crimean War, Boxer Rebellion, WWI, Indian Mutiny, Afghan Wars and Winter Civilians.
I had all their boats but sold off most a few years ago. Len made a lot of specials for me, with different regimental markings, uniform colors, adding bayonets and hatless heads.
I still pick up a few sets here and there but prices are high and I have to downsize in the near future.
Trophy bridged the gap between "toy soldiers" and "military miniatures"..........well sculpted, durable and colorful. its really a shame that the line wasn't continued by the company that
bought their molds.

Absolutely agree with that last sentiment - although technically - they are being continued. However, whenever I have asked the present owner of the moulds for a particular subject - I've always been very politely turned down. Still, no point in wishing what could have been - that's just the way it is. jb

I am now age 69 and started collecting Trophy Miniatures soon after I became a adult collector in December 1991. I am not an active Trophy collector now, but I still have a great many of their Zulu War period sets, the "Union Horse Artillery at the Gallup" set & a few of their Christmas sets including their 1995 XM20 set of "Over the Top". I saw the XM20 set being worked on during my visit to the Trophy operations in July 1995 in Wales, UK. Len Taylor was a splendid host during our visit there in 1995.

Relative to Trophy's XM series of Christmas time sets I just noted that a Trophy set# XM30 sold on eBay at auction for $536.78 + shipping fee! This set started at minimum bid price of $125.00 and 19 bids later among 3 bidders it sold for the final price of the $536.78 US Dollars. Does anyone know if this XM30 set by Trophy was their last one form the XM series?

That's probably a question for Martyn, Gary. Relative to price, a few years ago I sold a couple for a friend and they did poorly. He gave me some more this year and they did better than I could have dreamed. The Town & Country range does not generally do that well (there are a couple of exceptions such as the bus and the beer cart) so maybe collectors are gravitating towards that range; the Christmas sets are a subset of T & C.

Great range. I love it. I think I have about twenty or thirty sets.

This was a special for Jim Hilestead to sell at Christmas. Tommy

Hi Gary

According to my catalogue XM30 was the Christmas Special for 2003. I have the catalogue details for sets 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 (which I believe was the last set issued) I will scan and post the pages I have tomorrow

Cheers

Martyn:)

Len would make them but if you wanted one in the U.S. you had to buy from Jim. Tommy

I'm 21 now and been collecting.them for about 9 years.

Started with a set of standing firing british naps and 2x argyll and sutherland highlanders which were sent to me by accident.

Several years later I amassed a large zulu collection but sold this to get into reencting.

Then got back.into.naps when I.was 14 and still going strong.
