Great to see you posting your fine sets this New Year! Is the RN gun the "Long Tom" or was that the Boer name?

Long Tom was a Boer gun bought from Germany which was used to shell the town of Ladysmith.
That Rorkes Drift store house of yours is really cool. I have never heard of the manufacturer.
ALl the best for 2009

The Relief of Ladysmith required the Royal Navy and Royal Artillery to co-operate

Hi Damian
Great sets.
Am I right to believe the RN gun is the same model as the one I found at the London Toy Soldier Fair in December?
All the best for 2009

Good Morning Lt,

I have just cruised through all 57 pages of posts in your thread re: Trophy of Wales.

A Trophy catalogue is very difficult to come by these days and your thread is as good as one online, at least for myself.

I have found the images in the posts very helpful in identifying figures especially the VC x11 and DCM x4 winners at Rorke's Drift.

The images illustrating the old vs the new are just great.
Example: old Cpl. Schiess vs new Cpl. Schiess

Thanks very much for the info on the Regimental Colours of the 1st and 2nd Bn, 24th Regiment.

Have Great Weekend, glossman.

Here is some Trophy WWI stuff

Hello Lt. and fellow Trophy Zulu War fans,

This is the my first posting of an image on this forum. I had to do quite a bit of post-processing to get the image downsized for upload.

This is one of my favourite sets: ZS52 "Hookey Leads Them Out".

From Left to Right:

Private Alfred Henry Hook, VC (2/24th Regt)
Private J. Connelly (2/24th Regt)
Surgeon James Henry Reynolds, VC (Army Hospital Corps)
Assistant Commissariat Officer James Langley Dalton, VC (Commissariat and Transport Dept)
Private John Williams, VC (2/24th Regt)
Private Frederick Hitch, VC (2/24th Regt)

All the Best, Raymond.

Any time I get to see Fred Hitch and Al Hook together again, I realize why the VC is so special. Looking forward to MANY more Trophy sets being posted:eek::eek::cool::)

Hi Mike, Martyn and Damian,

Thanks for your encouraging comments:).

Trophy must have issued this set as an add-on for the Storehouse at the Drift Version 2.0.

I have looked at Martyn's Storehouse Version 1.0.

Some of the figures in Martyn's set have been incorporated into ZS52.

So Martyn, I don't think you are missing out on anything in not having this set.

Will be back with more, Raymond.

Raymond,
I think you might be right. When I get home I'll post my Storehouse set and the Hookey leads em out that I have(and you have) and they should match up to the older set, maybe.
Mike

Hi Raymond

Thanks for pointing out the figures in "Hookey leads them out". The figure of Hook in your set is the same as the figure I have in the Defenders of Rourke’s Drift only difference is he is wearing a helmet

This has raised an interesting point.

On checking my figures

Pvt. J. Williams in my Rourke’s Drift set becomes ZS 60 Pvt. Hook (with arm change)

Pvt. Chick in my Rourke’s Drift set becomes ZS 67 Pvt. J. Williams

Obviously the early figures have thicker bases but the overall pose of the figure is the same.

Cheers

Very nice Mike, this is one of the Trophy sets I hope to purchase one day, if I ever see it again. I had a chance to buy it about 6 years ago or so.

Keep posting these sets and I might take the plunge.
