The Battle of Inyezane

Here the 2/3rd Foot (the Buffs) , along with a 9pdr and Gatling gun from the Naval Brigade, face and defeat a Zulu impi on January 21st 1879, the same day the fight at Isandhlwana went so disastrously wrong for the 24th Foot.

Maryn,
Where's Midshipman Coker and the Rocket Battery!? Just kidding, great stuff and a little known victory on the 22nd.
Mike

Jeff I'm sure glad that Martyn had the square formed for my small contingent to return to. Great batch of photos Martyn and thanks for coming to my rescue.....The Lt.

Martyn,

Very nice square, it looks like the Zulus made to within a few paces of the square.

Brian

Yes guys,
I like how the last rays of the sun are catching the IMI before Zululand plunges into darkness. Then all hell will break loose with those raw recruits firing at goblins and picquettes!

Isandhlwana May 21st 1879

The battlefield is visited to bury the dead and retrieve all serviceable equipment

ZULUWAR-ISANDHLWANAMAY1879.jpg

There is very little left, the mealie bags were cut open by the Zulu before they left and have now started to grow in the back of the wagon. There is a 1/24th jacket left lying on a couple of empty boxes and the gunner has found 2 Zulu shields which he has asked the photographer to take a picture of him holding.

Cheers

Martyn:)

Joe I really liked your mounted infantry. Is there a part #? I sure would like to find some Trophy mounted figures.:D

Nice to know you enjoy today's photo and another nice one added by you today Martyn. My Lord General the Set is ZS26 90th Light Infantry Mounted....The Lt.

Martyn,
Now that's an original! Is that Norris-Newman? Tell him to stop mucking with that new-fangled camera contraption and start putting pen to paper!
Nice story as well-You're on the mark.

I found the figure holding the shields at the London Show, he is the same as the one in the Pontoon set. I thought I would add the shields and it seems to work;)

Nice combining of the sets. The Trophies of War set was the first Trophy set I ever purchased. My favortie other than the Battle Strategy Set TD1A.
