Trophy WW1 (2 Viewers)

Such an impressive and varied collection, it is hard to know where to start the praise. So many different vehicles encompassing trucks, ambulances, tanks of both sides, staff cars, artillery caissons, and then the magnificent aircraft, it's just impossible to pick a favorite. I am very impressed by the red double-decker bus loaded with the Indian troops and the long line of Indian troops unloading from it. I haven't seen those anywhere else. The sheer numbers of different troops is also quite mind-boggling. I even noted the French Colonial troops, which also must be very rare. I also love the number of big guns. Can't have WW1 without the big guns. Congratulations on the collection of such an outstanding representation of The Great War, Louis. -- Al

Thank you Al!:salute:: The Trophy WWI Indian Army Troops, and the Corps of Guides Escorts behind the Maharaja's Staff Car, are one of the kind sets commissioned by our good friend Martyn (GICOP). When he saw that I had the red bus with the Indian Army passengers and the Maharaja's Staff Car, he kindly passed these wonderful sets along to me. My son and I set them up the Maharaja and his escort had driven up near the front to cheer on his countrymen as they advanced to the front. The British Officer in command of the Indian contingent stands next to the Maharaja as the men dismount and follow the Indian RSM to the front, and a Toy Army Workshop staff car with a British General is parked behind his Rolls Royce, providing further escort for the dignitary.

Louis,
I was cleaning and rearranging my downstairs storage area and found some empty Trophy boxes with WWI Russian labels but no figures.
Did I give them to you? Or maybe I have them in my offsite storage facility which I can check in a few days.

Rich,

You haven't given them to me yet . . . I hope they turn up in your offsite facility.:salute::

Alec sent me some photos he took of our Trophy Gallipoli set-up. The figures are Trophy (unfortunately only have 2 of the Trophy WWI Turkish sets, so they are a bit outnumbered), the vehicles are Metalshed:

Does anybody have a photo of GWEQ79 Long Range Snipers (Artillerymen in Dennis Lorry Truck)? I'm assuming its the same Dennis Lorry in the Somme Siege Train 2 set depicted here, but with seated artillerymen in the back, but that is just a guess.

Thanks to the kindness of Teddy Weller, who saw my last post and e-mailed me these photos, I now know what
GWEQ79 Long Range Snipers looks like:

I looked at the photos of the Long Range Snipers photos Teddy was kind enough to provide, and realized that, using the Trophy sets I had, I could recreate it (as the seated figures come from the Everything Stops for Tea and Troop Transport Bus sets. My son Alec took some photos:

Louis,

I haven't seen that version of the nickname ......

being in a Field Artillery battery we were called '9 mile snipers' because that was the range of our guns :)

Nice to see troops in the back of the trucks, something that I don't see here anymore with our Army due to "Health & Safety" concerns but I'm sure in a wartime condition, those rules would all go out the door ???

Al,

The French Colonial Troops were a gift from our good friend Rich (nysoldiers). :salute:: I have never seen them for sale. I lot of the guys on this forum have been very generous with me.:smile2:

That's a great trait of this forum, Louis. I have been on the receiving end of many generous forum members, ranging from books, toy soldiers, even aircraft of different types and scales. The willingness of forum members to be so generous with so many different things has impressed me no end. This forum simply has a fantastic membership, made up of wonderful people. -- Al

I agree 100%.

I am trying to find GWH1 (Always Load Before You Leap!), GWH2 (Cold Steel!), and GWH3 (Drop the Spade!). Any help obtaining any of these sets would be greatly appreciated!

While I was waiting for Father's Day, I managed to negotiate a 1/3 off the asking price deal for this nice Trophy 6th Magdesburg Dragoons set:

Those are all really excellent sets! Thanks for sharing.

Walt

Once I'm feeling up to going upstairs, I will help Alec set them up and have my son Alec take some photographs of the new sets on the Trophy WW1 diorama.:smile2:
