Trophy - zulu war sets (2 Viewers)

Just arrived at KwaMartyn:D the last Hand To Hand set I needed for the collection

Set# HZ21

ZULUWAR-HZ21.jpg

Now the 24th figure is exactly the same as in

Set# HZ29

Here they are side by side

Note the Zulu in my set HZ29 has a raised knobkerrie unlike the one in the Trophy flyer with a raised assegai.

I'm sure the last hand to hand set to arrive at KwaMartyn's made him very happy but seem like Sir Taylor once again was up to some of his old thicks as shown.

HZ29 from the catalog

He also feature the 2003 HZ3 sets as follows

Got to love Sir Leonard Taylor to set you on a hunt Maryn if you don't have HZ3 in the second photo

Thanks Joe;)

I’ve got two sets of HZ3 on the earlier bases, one with white helmet and one with tan helmet

I've got a question. Did Len number his sets sequentially, or did he leave numbers out for later additions? I've been trying to scrape together a list of all Boxer and Zulu sets that Trophy produced, so I can see how much progress I've made, and I'm running into a lot of gaps between the numbered sets. I also want to compare what's in my boxes which only have a set number and Len's descriptions.

Dave

Hi Dave

There are a lot of gaps in the numbering of sets. For anyone just starting out collecting this must be a right headache if they don't have access to old catalogues. The one AZW series that is consistent is the BD or Battle Diorama, here is a copy of the sets I have, this is complete;)

DURNFORDS LAST STAND BD1
THE LOST GUN BD2
BUTCHER OF ISANDHLWANA BD3
SAVAGE FURY - BEHIND THE BARRICADE BD4
QUARTERMASTER SAYS NO BD5
BEHIND THE ENTRENCHMENT BD6
STRUGGLE FOR SURVIVAL BD7
AND NOT A DROP TO DRINK BD8
THE SPEARS ARE WASHED BD9
THE SCOUTS REPORT BD10
SAVING THE FLAG BD11
DEADLY THRUST BD12

Cheers

Martyn:)

Thanks, Martyn. I'd noticed it more with the Boxer sets. The I found some early Boxer sets which looked less robust than the later sets, and some of them filled in a couple of gaps. I figured Len let some sets drop when he went with a less spindly sculpting style. But I haven't found such evidence with the Zulu range.

Dave,
It sure is a fun quest though isn't it? Even with Martyn showing sets I'd never seen before!:) Keeps me out of trouble!

Thanks guys.
It is a lovely set.
It is always interesting seeing how the sets changed over time.

Guys
I need some help.
What does BD 6 consist of.
On the box it says 4 figures and a wall section.
A photo would be great.

Damian,
This is off the old MKL site. Hope it helps...
Mike

I think I have mixed up Struggle for Survival with Behind the entrenchment when I was packing last December.

Everything is packed away safely in Trophy boxes. Just some figures may be in the incorrect boxes.
I am not planning to sell so it should not make a difference.
Hopefully when i get my new home built I will be able to display everything in it's appropriate grandeur.

From last nights expedition;)
