Honestly I wish she would have broken her neck. I think a thief is one of the worst pieces of scum on the earth. Not only do I hope she is seriously injured, I hope they are both caught and thrown in jail where they belong.
Most of the people who do stuff like this are drug addicts. They “turn” the contents for whatever they can get in cash. Addicts really got killed when food-stamps went electronic and became all but unfungible. The ridiculous element of this particular situation is that the medications (which may have been generic) likely had little or no street-value. The thieves needed something that they could sell at a Mercado or pawn-shop, particularly luxury goods. Just imagine their reaction were they to open the parcel and find toy soldiers! Bet they’d much rather have nabbed a box of sneakers. I’m certainly glad they didn’t hurt the homeowners. Of course, dopers usually don’t hurt anyone unless the victim gets between them and their next fix.
She slipped on the grass, an open and obvious condition. There is no inherently dangerous condition, so no grounds for a negligence lawsuit, even if she were stupid enough to open herself to criminal prosecution by attempting to make the claim. Just my humble opinion as an Appellate Attorney.{sm4}
They - it's a gang in our State - were on TV tonight since they all got caught and went on trial. She showed up in front of the judge in a wheelchair...
