VEH016 out of stock! (2 Viewers)

I don't know if it kills the range Frank because I want to buy a few in the range although I defer to you since you've been collecting Naps longer than I have.

However, I'm careful to keep an eye on flag bearers. Someone was seling Naps here last week and wanted an arm and a leg for the Prussian flag bearer. Although I would have liked to have had it, I couldn't see spending the asking price.

The one thing I would like First Legion to do is give us notice when there are five or less of an item, with no intention to re-stock. Right now, it's just a guessing game.

Again those who are against these re-releases are simply concerned with what I would call the "exclusivity factor"..:rolleyes2:....I have it...You don't.....Not what this hobby is about.

Frank ,
I like ya but insulting fellow First Legion collectors because they don't agree with you is not the way to go. Your completely off base here and out of line IMO. I have never seen a single First Legion collector act in the way you are calling it. If anything we stick together and try and help each other out if we can and provide links to others who can if we personally can't.

Gebs, I like you as well and I'm not insulting anyone... but I do feel strongly about this... and I will voice my view on this issue. A re-release is NOT a bad thing as some continue to insist... and it's not the end of new products if a re-release of a similar AFV product is considered....That is my view on this matter.

And RIGHT THERE...BINGO... that Brad is the problem....There are still some hucksters who will do this with items such as the Prussian flag-bearer.... I have that figure and the drummers...I hope you can find one maybe someone has multiples. But if FL re-releases this figure ...PROBLEM SOLVED....and the FL Prussian range is no longer stagnated for new customers.

So where does it end with this re-releasing??? Does a manufacturer keep releasing AFV's just so current and future collectors don't miss out! As Hunter Rose has already pointed out, by re-releasing armour it delays the release of new items and it also delays the release of current armour in different theaters of war. I collect the DAK range and I would really like to see a DAK Panzer IV with a long barrel as well as the Hanomag halftracks. What's the bet these are being delayed because of the re-release of the existing armour!

Tom

Nothing happens in a vacuum. I suspect if something gets rereleased. Then it stands to reason something in the factory gets bumped. I would love to see the stug released again. But it was available for 3 years. I had my chance. I am happy to have the pz3 and look forward to future new releases

There have been few re-releases so your point is mute....Again there is "Nothing Wrong" with a re-release if there is enough demand for an item....follow the logic Post #24.....Re-releases would not occur so often so as to effect new product releases but a re-release may have an effect on the speculator who was trying to price gouge Brad for a Prussian flag-bearer.

You might be right about it being stagnated. They're relatively early issues and still mostly available.

This is the problem as I see it guys: In regards to FL flag-bearer figures....When the flag-bearers of a NAP range are sold out and with no possibility of a re-released it kills the SALES for the rest of the figures in that range as far as desirability to other collectors. It is common knowledge that some guys will purchase flag-bearers ONLY or in multiples for a particular range. To me it is simply ridiculous to allow an FL sub-range to die out because the flag-bearers are no longer available. Reproduce those figures or something similar in nature and the entire line is alive again for purchases to continue for other collectors. Again those who are against these re-releases are simply concerned with what I would call the "exclusivity factor"..:rolleyes2:....I have it...You don't.....Not what this hobby is about.
Yes, I agree about the flag bearers. I also was tempted to pick up the Prussian one on here last week, although I only have one other Prussian. I have always liked flags, since I was a kid. I am one who likes to pick up a variety of pieces from the Napoleonic range, but I do buy larger groups within the range, and the lack of a flag bearer has made me not buy into some.

If a tank is 're-released' using an existing mould, is there an expectation that it is a bit cheaper than a similar vehicle on its first run? Or would the demand for a re-release be significantly less (given that 200 potential buyers have one and probably won't get a second) to the point that it is less 'sellable' than a new vehicle and in fact could well be dearer in real terms? Would holding up production for a slower seller be offset by the savings of having a mould? Only a manufacturer would know but interesting, I hope, in terms of the general discussion.

With me A standard bearer is essential, with out one. I consider that range dead. And will not look at the range again. If someone wants people to keep buying, keep making standard bearers. Until everything else is sold out. Plain and simple..

Completely agree:salute:::salute::.....It's Plain and simple to comprehend.

To my knowledge, FL produces more drummers and flag bearers than other Codes of one range to address the increased demand for these figures. But obviously, demand is hard to predict. It took many years for the Panzer III to sell out, while only months for the Panzer IV to sell out.

Well, that would be correct if both items were pressed in same number if copies....but they were not.

It doesn't seem likely that we're going to see standard bearers reissued. The only alternative is the secondary market and they're prohibitively expensive, when you see them. Someone was offering the Prussia one on here for $145, which apparently sold. In addition, I was discussing one with another seller and he wanted me to make an offer (after telling me it would be expensive). The discussions went nowhere when I told him I don't negotiate against myself.

Didn"t one sell at ebay last year for $300 plus.it can really get crazy with this hobby.

Hi Brad,

Actually there is one other alternative. As this poor Prussian standard bearer seems to come up at least twice a year. Here is a very nice cheap alternative for $29.95 you can actually buy the kit made from First Legion which is the exact figure and have one painted or try it yourself like our fellow member Janusz has done . He did a thread about it three days shy of a year ago on Feb 23. It's strange how we as a forum seem go full circle, I think it's great that First Legion have made this figure in kit form. Here is a link to that thread. http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?53101-Missing-Prussian-Flag-Bearer-How-To. Janusz nailed it, you really can't tell them apart... best Gebhard

Gebs,

Not a bad idea. My friend Mike DeMarco, who repairs figures for many here, is also an expert painter and has painted figures for Tom Dubel and Zach. May ask him to do that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Brad
