Waltzing Matilda… The New Desert Matilda II Repaint (1 Viewer)

Just want to show off the new desert Matilda II tank model from Thomas Gunn. It is quite nice! Mine is specifically the ACCPAK039F T.7398 “GREENLOAMING“ variant and while the model is basically the same as the previous Australian Matildas, I like the new desert camouflage.

I’m trying out a couple different (and very simple) displays on the same base, including one with TGM figures and one with K&C 8th Army figures. I think the K&C figures are the most accurate; however I like the finish of the TGM figures.

Really appreciate you posting these fantastic pic's of TGMs new range of Crete Matilda tanks. The history behind these particular tanks in action on Crete is amazing as is the battle itself. So looking forward to the release of more accompanying figures and hopefully the odd FJ. ^&grin

Really an impressive tank, Tman; and as always, I love how you displayed. While I have many of K&C's British 8th and appreciate the N. Africa campaign, I like the TG British figures as you've included as well, esp. the one charging with bayonet. I purchased the Pacific version and it's one of my favorites.

The other day, I updated my Matilda diorama to a more realistic-looking desert base. The talus was made from broken up bits of hardpan clay from my back yard. (For those that saw it, this is the same base I once had my First Legion T-62 tank displayed on). I think the Matilda looks much better on this base than the not so great Build a Rama desert terrain. Not to say Build a Rama doesn’t make good products - they do - just the desert base wasn’t so much to my liking.

Just bumping this thread to help create some further interest in the Crete Matilda's and also asking for an update from TG as to when we might see some further releases for this new series?

Thanks Rob and Wayne! The TGM desert/Crete Matilda is definitely a winner. My second diorama with the actual dirt and hardpan talus (taken from my back yard) looked a ton better than the not so great Build a Rama desert terrain I originally had the Matilda displayed on… I’ve been a fan of Build a Rama products for many years, but that desert matting was not their best work for sure.
