hi there.when comes the new releases of 2012 from w.britain? are there also new releases of the war along the nile?

Britains main catalogue is going to be sent out in march so I'm sure there will be some new Nile items show then.

Craig

Perhaps Richard could shed some light on this issue. I thought that the WAN was a good seller.

The 2 camel pieces WB27030 and WB27033 have only just been released. Yet are already being retired. So doesn't look encouraging.

Collectors who haven't bought into the series already are unlikely to be encouraged to do so.

Perhaps the River Nile boat is an indication of the way forward, i.e. exclusivity.

Both of these were limited editions of 800 sets, so if all were ordered by dealers then they go retired which is normal.

It may be that dealers were offered a special to clear WAN inventory for upcoming sets.
We'll know soon I suppose.

The Britains web catalog lists all WAN figs as retired, so I don't them continuing production. I bought into this series to be at the start of a collection for once and not be chasing figs on ebay at inflated prices. Oh well, may be time to start unloading. :redface2: Chris

I hope you are wrong in this. DO we have any firm information or is it all rumor. WB have just released a Nile steam boat. It seems a bit strange that they are going to discontinue this line so soon.

So...when K&C retires pieces, I don't see those collectors spectulating about the demise of King and Country. I understand that everything or almost everything is being retired on the site, but until we hear from someone at Britains, I think that taking a step back and waiting for an answer or clarification on what is happing will the benefit collectors...lets be positive and look at from the stand point of now those of us who own the retired pieces, finally will know that we have an investment with no more being produced...Who knows...may FirstGear is selling off the Britains name...{eek3}

Brent you make a good, however, it is the scale of the retirements that worrying.

Damian, all the figs on the WAN line are listed as retired on the WB website catalog. So, no more of those to be produced. It does seem strange with the Nile gunboat's recent release. The Camel Corps bugler is already in the pipe line so I don't think we'll see any new figs in this series after that. Chris

Just heard from Ken Olsen that more WAN figs are due in the next catalogs. Also, Richard is currently trng 50 sales staff in Europe. So all concerns should be laid to rest. Chris

There's no shortage of earlier camel pieces 27010, 27011 and 27017. So I wonder if the take up is that great. Even though production quantities have been cut.

At the Birmingham soldier show last October. One ex WB dealer was selling single figures for £15 and mounted at £35 to clear his stock. There wasn't huge interest judging by the speed they sold.

Thinking all is going to be fine with Britain's, I guess the Standard & catalogue due early March will give us the clue, but it would be great to hear from Richard again in the meantime, with some words of encouragement, even if he does not want to unveil any new releases prematurely. Cheers, Robin.

Gentlemen:

I just posted on the WAN thread about this. Bottom line, this was a new way of us releasing ranges - thanks to the input of all of you - release a large group more or less at once - which we did. But of course when time comes to retire it, it looks dire since they are "all" retiring at once. So, can't seem to win here. We also made more of some of the foot figures so we did not have restocking issues. We have stock that should keep you in figures for awhile. We also have a great new goup of WAN figures coming along for release in the May catalog. This range is alive and well. But it begs a point - as we go more to this format of grouped releases this issue of mass retirements will come up more and more. It does not mean we are discontinuing a range, going out of business or that I lost control of my mental capacities (but that is the most likely excuse on any other issues!).

I know some may ask, "if it is selling well, why retire it"? Bottom line, to make room for new releases, as we make more and more figures it becomes increasingly difficult to both do new releases and keep the old ones in stock, escpecially on what I would class core collector ranges. Zulu and ACW being two notable exceptions to this rule.

Well, I hope that sheds some light on the issue.

Richard

Richard, again thanks for the up date :) I think you have put my mind to rest on the future of Britains & I now look forward to the next catalogue of releases.

Craig

Looking fwd to the new releases in WAN, ACW and Zulu! Thanks for all the info Richard. Chris

Thank you Richard.
Keep up the great.Time to take the finger of the panic button.
Cheers
Dave
