Wars of the Roses Knights (3 Viewers)

Just got King Richard this AM. What a beauty of a figure. The horse alone weighs a considerable bit. No wonder he got bogged down in marsh. Love the gold armor. A really fine addition to this series. -- Al

Just recently got both these bannermen. Very nice figures. -- Al

Just started on this series 2 weeks ago. Now have Richard III, his mounted Flag bearer, the Knight with Heraldic Banner (The Retinue of John De Vere), John Howard 1st Duke of Norfolk and one Lancastrian archer. This looks like a great series with much animation in the figures and I am in a "knights mood" with my collection. Excellent...!!! {sm4}

This range can certainly be addictive . . . as I have become well aware of myself . . . . :smile2: Mike

Putting it mildly.:rolleyes2: I'm a confirmed WW1 aviation and French Army addict, yet I am now running around the house shouting "A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse!" -- Al

Al, I think you are aware of my enthusiasm for JJD's WWI ranges both on the ground and in the sky. I am also an avid collector of WB ACW, but I have to say that the Wars of the Roses range has got me not only collecting the figures but also reading about the battle of Bosworth Field. Gee I love this habit . . . er, I mean hobby . . .

Received 2 more sets to my collection this AM, RYork 09 (2 Billmen) and Lanc 26, a man-at-arms. Really nice figures. I find I am very partial to the billmen as the detail is outstanding, the poses dynamic, and the colors so varied. That said, I really like Lanc 26, who is wielding a poleaxe in a very aggressive stance, in my mind, against a mounted threat. The armor is painted in a very subtle finish that doesn't exactly gleam but says it is well used but taken care of. The figure is finely detailed in all respects. I now have 13 sets and 17 figures in my collection (far more than the half-dozen I originally envisioned) and I see no end in sight as this series has just really grabbed me with the superb poses, equipment and weapon details, the armor, and the variety of color. I feel this WoR series is simply everything military miniatures should be. It is an absolute pleasure to collect. -- Al

I agree 100% with your observations . . . . this range as totally drawn me in also for the very same reasons you have mentioned . . . . Don't have LANC-26 yet but plan to collect this figure this month . . . .

This is a great series! Figures can be used for a stand alone display, small vignette or large diorama. G2 says that more mounted knights, artillery, wounded, pikemen and banners will be forthcoming.
This is the way a series should be done, with timely releases of both opponents and a large variety of poses, weapons and garments.

I am now addicted to this series as well. Picking up 4 figures a month. Unfortunately, some of the sets seem to have been retired but that's ok. Looking forward to what's coming to put together a nice sized diorama! ^&grin

Added 3 single figure sets today and the figures just continue to impress. I now have 20 figures in this series and not a one of them has been any kind of ho-hum let down. They are all simply wonderful. The painting and details are just superior on all of them, the level of excellence spread across the whole series. I have for years proclaimed that the JJD Jacobite series were my favorites, but I now have to say that this WoR series is equal in my eye. I added a superb pair of Lancastrians, a parrying Billman,(HLanc-07), and an archer, (HLanc-17). Both are gorgeous but the Billman is special, a great pose. The other figure I added is York-20, a fully armored foot knight with a bill. Another great pose, if basic, with beautiful armor. This series is a LOT of fun. -- Al
