We Want You!!!! (1 Viewer)

I could be wrong about this but this is the first time that I heard you mentioned getting feedback from dealers and if I missed it are you saying that dealers have given you a thumbs down on this. Have you talked to Hobby Bunker? I would think now would be a good time to explore opportunities when interest is high, not to mention that there will be further interest when the DVD set comes out down the road.

I agree, I'm afraid its not a personal passion of mine either so that's a tough one. I'd love to do it, just for the action alone of course. But I did speak with Sierra , Hobby Bunker and others and the thought was that it really wasn't a barn burner. Hey I'd love to do the Franco Prussian period, but that's risky too. Our present genres are tough enough to keep up with. But hey who knows!:)

Fair answer although I don't think that will satisfy everybody. However, in the end you have to do what's financially prudent.

I am going to pursue the Marines on my Web Site....I will set up a long term pole or something.......I may be wrong about this....But what do the Dealers know.....We buy the stuff, they just sell it.....I don't think K&C did too well with their Marines because they were too CLEAN....Figarti is breaking the ice with their grittier Marines.....But we need the 1000 yard stare battle worn Marines....

I don't have a passion for the Pacific....I am a 101st and 82nd Airborne man....But I say, the Pacific can be intriguing if done right. Alex

here are my ideas

INSPECTING THE KILL
2 american paratroopers look down at a dead german infantry man.

DEATH FROM A ROCKET
A 2 man Afrika Korps panzerschreck team lies prone in the sand

CARRY THAT WEIGHT
A two man battle of the bulge 30.cal team walks in the snow as one man carries the 30. cal and one carries the ammo boxes.

I understand the reluctance to do a Pacific series. A test of the waters might not hurt, though. Two sets, say. CS could do a release of a set or sets to stand on their own, say a Marine MG team (Basilone or Schmid) with a set of Japanese soldiers as adversaries. Two sets and if they don't move fast, well, I'm sure they would all sell eventually as 200 or 300 sets of each is just not a huge number. If they move well, then expansion could follow as you see fit. If expansion isn't deemed feasible, at least the buyers have bought a viable vignette. US Marines done in the dynamic CS style would be something to see. JMO. -- Al

Not everything is a barn burner..ETO will always be there for you or any other maker to recoup investments..maybe Hobby Bunker's giving you a line just to keep you out of the waters...Figarti is doing a bang-up job with their new Tarawa vehicles and figures..Innovation gets noticed...most all of your sets are 200-330 and then out of production..How many of those sets have disappeared off the market completely? You have a nice niche in the market..everyone agrees - K&C are too clean and pretty for what some people want. I want battles, front-line troops..that's what separates this generation of collectors from the last..no one wants toy soldiers anymore..

An American paratrooper, just landed, with soft parachute that can be lain on a display base on draped over a wall. Perhaps a paratrooper removing his parachute. I am thinking early D-Day displays here!

I buy figures as a way of being in touch with the past. A tribute to those men and sometimes women who gave all in our service.

I would love to see a John Wayne figure. I could go to Kings X, I suppose. However one has to buy a great deal of stuff from them to get it. I remain loyal to my friends. So Brian a John Wayne figure would be great!

how about an Afrika Korps marder III.

an M3A1 halftrack w/ some figures.

You know, I gotta say. I have never had the case for Marines put so convincingly really.

Its good, I gotta say its compelling. Look let me check our schedule ( no balony here ) and try to come up with some room. I agree it would be a great opportunity to do some great art. I'll keep you posted, but I'm moving towards the idea. Just bear with me we have alot on our plate already.

kind regards,

Brian

It should also be compelling that you usually limit your figures to a short run. I would think you could sell enough. Could be great!

I could go with this, and a truck and crew towing a 88mm.

Brian - I've been a fan of your company since the beginning, convinced long-time collectors to go out of the pocket and look into your figures for their collection of toy soldiers going back 40 years for some. They now love your stuff..three gents in particular are..guess what? retired Marines...waiting for someone to make Marines..I convinced them to buy Figarti's line of Marines - Wake Island and Tarawa..They love ém all. I have Figarti's Tarawa Marines..what a great and noble effort for the Marines. Read what people are saying, Brian. We all have faith in your artistry and imagination. I can't wait to see what you can AND WILL come up with in time. HBO's "The Pacific"is stirring up emotions for these aging warriors and their sons (which I can claim) need something to show their devotion..we all grew up with plastic toy soldiers, now we wantthe real thing - our own generation of fighting toy soldiers... Semper Fi

Our family lost an uncle to Japanese counter battery fire ( he was a marine corp 105mm gun layer ). Your really hitting me in the heart here. Anyhow let me figure this one out.

Brian

Did the Afrika Korps have Panzerschrecks? I thought they came into use after the African campaign was over.

Panzerschreks, from what I have read, were not operational until 1943. However, bazookas captured in North Africa were the inspiration for them.

Remember the Marines have to be ultra battle torn.....that is where K&C failed.... and Figarti is opening the door. You and Figarti have what it takes to do Marines....
Watch the Pacific on HBO you will have plenty of ideas

Marine with dog

4 Marines carrying a stretcher under fire

Flame thrower

Marines in a Fox hole

WATCH THE PACIFIC !!!!!!!!

CS is good at hand to hand combat figures. What better than US Marines and Japanese going at each other? -- Al

My dad and his four brothers are all Marines. My dad and one uncle served in the Pacific Theater and the others served from Korea to Viet Nam. Tell your dad I said thanks for his service and Semper Fi!
