We Want You!!!! (2 Viewers)

My dad and his four brothers are all Marines. My dad and one uncle served in the Pacific Theater and the others served from Korea to Viet Nam. Tell your dad I said thanks for his service and Semper Fi!

Thanks for your thoughts. My dad died in 1982, still think about him every day..After seeing The Pacific, now i know why he had only a few stories to tell - from Guadalcanal to Iwo Jima, he saw a lot of action. Another great series would be a Chosin Reservoir range of Marines .. Semper Fi to you and yours!!

jbonzo1: your family sounds like mine, and we are VERY proud of all of thier accomplishments. Kingtoot: I know how proud of your dad you are. He was a hero and saw alot of action. The Marine Corps is full of heroes in each generation, just like the vets of Tarawa and Iwo, to Chosin Resovoir and Khe Sanh to Fallugah today. All these guys just did thier jobs at the time--whenever thier time was. They didn't ask for brass bands and parades upon homecoming--instead they wanted to know that they accomplished thier mission and NEVER let thier buddies or thier Corps down............Stryker

Remember the Marines have to be ultra battle torn.....that is where K&C failed.... and Figarti is opening the door. You and Figarti have what it takes to do Marines....
Watch the Pacific on HBO you will have plenty of ideas

Marine with dog

4 Marines carrying a stretcher under fire

Flame thrower

Marines in a Fox hole

WATCH THE PACIFIC !!!!!!!!

Firebat and Lancer: great suggestions!!!!................Stryker

Stryker- yes I am. It has taken too long for people to appreciate their contributions and actions for us all...Unsung heroes from generation to generation. It seems like there's enough interest right here in this forum to make up costs and investments enough to produce a few 3-4 figure sets and take it from there on whether or not to produce more. Let's take a poll to show Brian that we would buy what he makes..it seems like we already do buy what he makes..

Brian - I think if you do the Marines properly and accurately - they will sell. The failures or slow sales of some previous releases was probably due to the fact that they had too many discrepancies! If you do them and keep the edition numbers low - they will sell out for you. I for one will increase my order seriously for the Marines if done right. I can tell you one thing for sure -Marines will not purchase the figures if they are not accurate. Dont know much about a lot of things but I know this and speak from experience.

THanks for considering doing Pacific Marines and hope that you decide to do them.

Best regards

Well Brian: HERE is a dealer, with some positive input and I have done business with this good man. There are lots of others waiting..............Stryker

I could be wrong about this but this is the first time that I heard you mentioned getting feedback from dealers and if I missed it are you saying that dealers have given you a thumbs down on this. Have you talked to Hobby Bunker? I would think now would be a good time to explore opportunities when interest is high, not to mention that there will be further interest when the DVD set comes out down the road.

Jazzeum: some good points you have made. This dvd will sell ALOT!!!!................Stryker

I understand the reluctance to do a Pacific series. A test of the waters might not hurt, though. Two sets, say. CS could do a release of a set or sets to stand on their own, say a Marine MG team (Basilone or Schmid) with a set of Japanese soldiers as adversaries. Two sets and if they don't move fast, well, I'm sure they would all sell eventually as 200 or 300 sets of each is just not a huge number. If they move well, then expansion could follow as you see fit. If expansion isn't deemed feasible, at least the buyers have bought a viable vignette. US Marines done in the dynamic CS style would be something to see. JMO. -- Al

I like the idea of character figures, include Basilone, Leckie, Sledge, Phillips, Gunney, Skipper, etc. just off the top of my head. But different figs released at different dates; in different clothing, poses, etc. I'd like to see one company do several poses of one person at different stages of a war/battle.
Also for Band of Brothers, Winters, Malarkey, Nixon, Spears, Lipton, Bull, Shifty, Roe, etc. Same for them, different poses/figures for different parts of the war in different battles/scenarios.
Heck, while I'm at it, all the above for Saving Private Ryan.
I know the movie tie-ins would require the copyright license, so may not be feasible, maybe worth a look into.
It may be more financially capable to do vignettes from artwork of the Band of Brothers. Keith Rocco/Conte/Britains, Don Troiani/Conte, Dale Gallon/Britains for example have all turned art into figures. So maybe this could work for C.S.
Here's a link to Valor Studios, they focus of Band of Brothers art, you can see the artwork and the artists, maybe a collaboration between the artists and your company could do something together.

 Hello Brian! Marines are Ok, but they didn't sell to well from K&C! To be Honest, we need (ITALIAN Fighting Units) and Weapons Teams, ARMOR), and POW's, and Wounded Soldiers, for DAK ("AFRIKA KORPS") also! We need you to make the British 8th Army( "ARMOR")& AUSTRALIAN Infantry! ------ ( NORMANDY), is OK but there is a Lot of Waffen SS, and could use 'GERBIRGSJAGER' ( German Mountain Troops)? ---- VEHICLES: ----Raupenschlepper, SDKFZ_232 8-Wheel Armored Car!----WESPE( Wasp)-SDKFZ-124------MARDER II---------OPEL Maultier (Halftrack) Cargo Truck--------KRUPP Protze-(KFZ-6)---------PAK 40-anti Tank Gun---2CM-20MM-FLAK Gun------15CM-150MM-(sFeH 8) HEAVY Field Howitzer Gun! ;):) CIAO!

I'd have thought Marine figures would sell by the ton right now:cool:.

One thing to consider about Marines is the campaign. A Marine division would conduct an assault, get chewed up, then be withdrawn for rebuilding and to absorb replacements and new equipment. A lot of the equipment was replaced before each campaign. As one can see from the mini-series, the uniforms and weapons at Guadalcanal are not identical to Tarawa, and there were changes again for the 1944 campaigns, etc. About the torn and dirty Marines, that is after they had been in battle for a while (which I agree - we haven't had those available). During the landings they were still in fresh dungarees. Over the years we have tended to get Marines in fresh dungarees as seen in the 1944-45 campaigns.

The stretcher party is a good selection, and Marines helping each other back from the line of fire. The Marines have a tradition of not leaving their fellow Marines on the field whenever they can help it, dead or alive.

Maybe if Marines vs Japanese were presented as a story situation as in a Pillbox position with mg gunners and support against a squad of flamers, satchel charges etc...A Banzai charge scene with attackers and defenders. These could be offered in bits and pieces. I would be open to buying Stuarts and any Japanese tank offered...Michael

These are good ideas. Peleliu offers the perfect chance. It has all but the Banzai attack. Peleliu offers one of the few instances where the Japanese launched a counter-attack with numerous tanks. -- Al

Has anybody noticed how much the K&C "unsellable" Japanese tank is going for now? or the first run of action posed Japanese infantry? who else makes metal japanese tanks? They sell now..
