What are you guys Watching on TV or at the Cinema?

I've started Rewatching the Grimm TV series, a Monster of the Week type show which I've always found entertaining.

The Grimm TV Series is back on the menu in Australia either streaming on 9Now (Season 1) or Telstra Box (Seasons 1 - 3)

I've been watching Boundless on Prime Video. It is the story of the Magellan expedition. Not great but not much historical on tv. Not much on that I watch anymore, Just finished up See on Apple TV. Stopped watching La Brea. Disappointed in The Winchesters but I will give it a chance. I will watch Barbarians II on Netflix. Walker Independence a disappointment, finishing up TWD But Yellowstone is coming back Sunday YAH!

Watching any film noir I can catch, specifically on TCM and a cable channel called Movie that shows quite a few of them, including all day on Thursdays. Also watching TWD crawl to it's end and a new favorite, Yellowstone, which my son suggested. And I never miss the Saturday showing of Combat! on H&I cable channel. -- Al

Film Noir seems to be very popular these days, personally I prefer those from the Scandies such as the Wallander series. Of course there are a lot of newer shows since the original Wallander but I haven't had time to watch many. I still have great memories of the old Cat People film that was released in 1942, had plenty of 'atmosphere' for an old movie.

Have you seen the Stephen King film 'Sleepwalkers' which was a kinda Cat People movie, not one of Steve's best but something different.

I liked the original Vampire movie from Sweden called 'Let the Right One In', especially the suitcase scene.

Hi, Matt. Have not seen Sleepwalkers, yet. Let the Right One In is in rotation on a couple of my cable channels, so I will catch that. I also have that book in my 'to be read' pile, which continues to grow. -- Al

Don't expect much from the Sleepwalkers movie, it failed at the box office, for good reason, has more of a cult following I guess, I just found it likelable as it was different and weird. I understand they did an English version of Let the Right One In as a TV series, I haven't seen it, just the original Swedish film.

Today I started watching an American Dectective TV series which my brother recommended to me several years ago, I have just got around to watching it as I have some spare time lately. The show is called 'Bosch', it's been on TV for several years, it's a quality series and no doubt well known by many forum members, but worth checking out if you're late to the party like me. Funny thing I remember the main actor in Bosch appearing in a Grimm episode I watched a few days back called 'Three Coins in a Fuschbau', I remember thinking that guy can act, he should have his own series.

"Unsolved Mysteries" on Netflix. You will probably never leave home after watching some of these real-life mysteries. Seemingly normal people who go for a walk and vanish off the face of the earth etc. Families left never knowing what happened to them. Some very sad tales.

I'll have to check this out.

That series is a classic Combat, great to see it's still going.

Contains several spoilers, but throwing up a trailer for 'Bosch' in case some may have missed the series, it's worth checking out.

Just finished watching FIFA Uncovered, on Netflix, about the corruption involved in deciding who gets to host soccer World Cup.

Topical concerning Qatar just about to host.

Mentions an interesting story from 2009. A female was part of the Qatar bid team that set up at an exhibition in South Africa in 2009. Said very little interest by people in the Qatar stand. Then David Beckham enters the exhibition hall and suddenly he gets all the attention. The Qatari Prince in charge asks the female how come she couldn't get that kind of attention for their bid. She points out he is Beckham. She mentions the Qatari guys on bid had never played sports or even attended a World Cup game.

The Qataris must have made a note because Beckham recently became their ambassador for the cup on an insane deal covering next 10 years at 15m pounds per year.

Goes into the voting and wheeling and dealing for cup and FIFA presidency. For example US$10m to the Caribean executive who helped South Africa get to host in 2010. Or the $40,000 in brown envelopes to encourage votes for FIFA President candidate running against Sepp Blatter.

As many know resulted in the arrest of many for corruption.

Toddy mate,

You and me both cobber. Season 5, Episodes 1 & 2 are up in about 2 hours here. That Taylor Sheridan is a genius. Love Yellowstone and 1883 and have just finished watching today the first episode of the new show, Tulsa King, a new series by him with Sylvester Stallone, the gangster. I see that 1923 a follow up to 1883 is due to be released on 18th December.

I hope you get all these shows across the Ditch. Cheers Howard

Toddy and Howard,

I'll have to give the Yellowstone series a try, I've always enjoyed a good Western.

Yeah Bosch is terrific, believable dialogue etc, etc.

It's now rare to find a TV series or movie that doesn't rely on action 24/7.

It's also rare for my Brother to recommend something that I like. His last recommendation wasn't quite so well received being a British Detective Mystery series called 'Strike', which was apparently adapted from novels by R K Rowling. I'm not saying it was bad, just that I found the series rather slow and the 'Villians' were too easy to identify.

Does anyone remember 'Cat's Eye'? It was released back in 1985 and based on another Stephen King book, a very young Drew Barrymore played a child being stalked by a small Troll type monster that somehow came thru a magic hole in her bedroom wall. I borrowed this old DVD at the local library recently, great to rewatch this little classic.
