Mitch,

The goat in Africa is a charity thing. Mission Australia (and others) have been promoting the idea
of helping others by getting people to donate to charity instead of buying presents. Not sure how much
you have to donate/pay to get a goat but you then get a card which says something like instead of buying you a present this year we have bought a goat for a family in Africa. I know somebody else that got a Duck.

Well I didn't get any TS items as my wife likes to leave that to me to collect during the year but I did do very well none the less! My good lady has pre ordered me eight different books released over the next three months covering such subjects amongst others Alamein, D Day, Monty and Rommel, the London Underground (another interest of mine) The V weapon bombardment of London etc. She has also ordered me a tivo box that has a hard drive of 500 hours (think of the docu's I can store^&grin) I got a stack of six drawers to store diorama building materials in, and lots of chocolates. We also brought ourselves a joint present this year too, we got a large print of Dame Laura Knight's ' Balloon site', my wife really likes the painting and anything 'Home front' is a hit with me and its a great painting. All in all I'm a happy bunny this year:)

I had to Google that Rob as I had never seen it. My Nan used to sew barrage balloons during the war.

Its a nice painting Scott, she was a good war artist. She did another study of a woman munition worker at a lathe. Your Nan did a vital job Scott, they used to say that in the run up to D day there was so much equipment in the UK it was only the barrage balloons that kept the country afloat! On a more serious note the balloons did a good job in keeping the bombers high and bringing down V1's.

Did pretty well this Christmas as my family did also. Great having everyone here. As for gifts gift cards from the kids. My Wife went overboard. A couple of K&C Crimean War soldiers, two beautiful Crimean war prints, two campaign medals that her Grandfather would of received, books and more books. Now I have more soldiers to collect. Well someone has to do, guess I'll take one for the team.

I got a few gifts of money, one unexpected, so I got NA13 the French Line officer on ebay, a figure I otherwise wouldn't have considered. I'll be using money from mum to get a few more JJ Culloden sets, probably JR12 Piper and JR16 Grenadier and Broad Sword fighting. It's also time to spend some of my own savings, and though I've changed my mind three times, it'll be a few of the older Crsades figures from K & C, in particular Richard Lionheart!
