What do think of the WWII release over the past few months? (1 Viewer)

That Desert AK Stuff - just ROCKS ! :D Man - I love those new AK Tank Riders and that Panzer IV - wow - looks great in the case. Its really a great tank.

Debrito,

I totally agree with you.. Fall of Berlin german and russian soldiers are exquisite for the most part.. That russian guy running who's only on one of his foot (from RA008) depicts one of the greatest pose that K&C did of a soldier running.. The two ladies are also pretty well done and the T34 is very nice.. Well I'm with you on this one and I would be very interested in more WWII Russians.

I agree....but....I really like the new Gray stuff as well, and I avoid multiples, what am I going to do Ron  :D

To make things worse I have two of the earlier classic Gray German Infantry sets with no vehicles, and they're yelling out for some Gray support. I can see my collection drifting to the dark (Gray) side. I haven't made a commitment yet and I think there's still plenty of time before they are retired - or is there

Btw, here's pic for some ideas to fill the bowed front track of your Mark IV:

It is interesting that despite repeated statements to the contrary there are many posts requesting more russian figures and vehicles.
Perhaps we should remind ourselves that during the second world war the russians killed more german soldiers than the united states, britain and all the other allies.
The russians also lost more soldiers than all of the other"allies" combined.
From 1941 till the end of the war, the vast majority of the german army fought on the eastern front.
I guess the uniforms of the russian army are not glamorous enough for K&C collectors and i guess the russian armour was equally as boring.
So much for accuracy and the validity of history.

That's very true, but K & C exist in a commercial environment and when sets aren't selling such as the Russians and Vichy Frenchmen on Camels, then they have to go.

And it must be said the Andy has a good idea of what is likely to be a big seller and it is rare for a company to issue unique sets for collectors pleasure rather than purely for commercial success. I feel that K & C deserve more credit for the less popular sets they have produced for collectors.

Agreed. As for Russians, I've said a few times that Naval Troops break the stereotype that all Russian uniforms are drab and boring. They were more like U.S. marines than sailors in that they were an elite force that ended up fighting mostly on land during the war. Would love to see K&C or Honor Bound make some.

Totally agree, The running guy from RA008 is one of the best figures around, and the whole fall of berlin range is a cut above the rest.

You can still get six Russian sets, RA008 to RA012 and RA015, why can't these be matched against the Bulge Germans and several of the Waffen SS sets include armor that served on the Russian front.

I suspect most collectors were buying the Winter clothed Germans rather than the Fall of Berlin guys, which is why they were dropped.

Maybe a set or two of winter russians in white would pull me into collecting the winter german range to go up against them:D

These are just a few pics of diff camo on the russian side

I will have the same prob at the London show, Gray MK4 or AK MK4?.I love the NA stuff and i want it all. However i'm putting together my German grey Armour force (MK4/Stug/MK1/Kubelwagen)..of course i could be totally decadent and get both;).

Like the picture Oz.

Rob, do you have many A/Korps pieces?

I have eleven at this stage and if I get any more they will over balance my collection. I've always had a liking for the North African Theater but I don't know that I want to have half A/Korps and the rest.

Yeah, that pic has a "Kurt's Heroes" look about it :D

If there was such a demand for Eastern Front stuff then why has the Fall of Berlin Range not been a hot seller? Obvioulsy other theatres are more popular. The Pacific is another one. We hear the demand for a revisit to this theatre yet when it was brought out it was not popular. I am pretty sure if these theatres were hot sellers then we would be drowning in product like AK and Ws. The fact that these were important theatres and that the war turned on them etc etc does not mean necessarily that ther are popular themes with collectors. Obvioulsy K and C is biased towards certain themes as they know they sell, and they obvioulsy have a passion for them and are good at them. WWII is K and C 's area of brillance. The Zulu war, Amercian Civil War and Plains Indian wars are obvioulsy not. It is up to collectors who are after more exotci subjects to step up to the plate and buy these exotic releases. If teh Napoleonic Russians do not sell then you can rest assured that there will be minimal follow up in the next few years. If collectors take to Borodino etc and buy in big volumes then the other units from this campaign will be forth comming.

That's interesting. Most of my collection is K&C Afrika Korps. I have all the vehicles in that range. So recently i've had a problem. I've actually preferred the grey Stug and PzIV but i've stubbornly stuck with the AK versions!
Overall my collection is definately overbalanced with AK but i've come too far to give up now!

Rob

Mortar set, Motorcycle team, Desert Transport, 10.5 cm field gun, Motor cycle combo, Tunisian Tiger x 2, NMA 8 wheeled armored car, CS 88 mm, Kettenrad and Panzer I.

I did have the 222 but sold it awhile back. I also have the Dept 56 palm and cypress tree sets and have used the K & C Normandy courtyard as a desert wall type of backdrop. Also add a few K & C A/K singles I picked up on eBay.

Plans are to get questioning the prisoner, AK tank riders, Opel Blitz, and oasis well. Will get the Stug and Mark IV in either A/K or Gray - that is the main drama atm  I also have a complete set of the old Britains Deetail A/Korps figs and vehicles.

I have the Deetail AKs too. The Kubelwagen and BMW combo are classics.

The Gray Stug and Mark IV do look better imo. However the K & C A/Korps range is like a collection in itself considering how much is available now. Although it would be nice to have some Gray sets in the mix an enlarged A/K range may be a better investment if you are one to consider such things.

The other K & C stuff I have is mainly Waffen SS (split Summer & Winter) and non marching LAH figs as I'm not into marching figs/bands etc.

Plus several Britains Artillery sets, WW II Delprado, hundreds of 1/72 diecast aircraft and tanks, heaps of 1/50 etc etc. But I have recently decided to sell off the excess to make more room for K & C.

Oz,do you find the CS stuff fits well with K&C,any size issues?
