Hi Guys,

Over the years as I attend toy soldier shows and other gatherings I have often times been asked, “What do I collect...?
Well, there’s no short answer... I collect lots of different makers, styles and subject matter in the wonderful world of toy soldiers.
Among my favourites are ‘Parade Figures’... And over the years I’ve collected lots of British Ceremonial.
My Queen’s Guards make a pretty impressive “Trooping The Colour” display when all featured on our Dining Room table at home a couple of weeks back.

Among the makers on parade are:
William Britains (of course)
The British Toy Soldier Company
Regimentals
(a now defunct HK Maker)
and a little company called...
King & Country (which I’m particularly fond of)

Among the Regiments on parade are:
The Grenadier Guards
The Coldstream Guards
The Scots Guards
The Welsh Guards
and The Irish Guards
F.Y.I. The Dining Room Table measures 5’ X 5’

Among my other ‘Parade’ Collections are: The Massed Pipes & Drums of...
The Black Watch
The Gordon Highlanders
The Cameron Highlanders
The Scots Guards
The Seaforth Highlanders
The Cameronians

and RAF Leuchars Pipe Band.

Finally... My Royal Marines & Royal Navy collection of Bands, Marines & Matelots.

There you have it... Enjoy!
Andy

Impressive mate taken a while to set up cheers for sharing your personal collection.

Andy,
What is the story behind the worn flag that is framed on the wall? Looks very cool.
Benjamin

Andy, I remember you looking for Dinky or Timpo, and others from your childhood, at one of the Chicago shows. Do I have that right?

Looks great, nice to see some ceremonial sets, they seem to have fallen out of favour in the last few years, i have nearly all the Britains regiment bands sets and they are impressive, i also the older K & C ceremonial sets and they are still impressive.

Missing a mounted household cavalry band there- you should make that 😀

Like Benjamin says Andy, Nice flag poster, which Benjamin may not know was part of the post WWI government push to promote British Empire made goods.

I'm probably thinking of something else, but I think Agatha Christie did some work for them when she was married to her first husband.

This and some other posters promoting the Empire goods:

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the explanation, I had no knowledge about that subject. Thanks for the link too.
Best wishes,
Benjamin

Andy mate,
That is truly a most outstanding display. Made me want to increase and improve my small CG and Life Guards collection. Parade sets and Bands should be more popular.

Cheers Howard:salute::

Dinner parties must be real effort when these troops are required to march away into hiding for the duration. In the meantime they qualify for the 'wow' factor. Outstanding Andy. :salute:: Robin.

Wonderful collection, love the formations. BTW, I drove past RAF Leuchars (you have the band) earlier this yr and the RAF has turned it over completely to the army. Used to fly there in the 70's and 80's while in the USAF. Chris

Hi Guys,
many thanks for your very positive responses to my little parade presentation...
The ‘Empire Marketing’ marketing poster has an interesting ‘back story’....

Some of you may know that many moons ago my ex wife and still great friend and business partner, Laura owned and setup several Bars and Pubs in Hong Kong and San Antonio. They were called ‘Joe Bananas’...’Chinatown’ and...’Mad Dogs’.

All of the ‘Mad Dogs’ [we opened 5 over a number of years] were traditional British-themed Pubs with a strong visual influence of British History, Culture and ‘The Empire’...The poster was one of several we discovered in an old Antique Shop in Edinburgh. This particular one appealed to me so much I ‘confiscated’ it for myself!!! And today, it still hangs in the Living Room area of my house here in Hong Kong.

I love its style and graphic illustration...I also like its message of the Empire, now the Commonwealth, working and trading together on equal terms. It also speaks of a time when an entire quarter of the map was coloured ‘pink’...But that’s another story...

All the best Guys and have a GREAT weekend!
Andy.

Wow, now that's a collection Andy, thanks heaps for sharing! Must have been fun setting them all out.:salute:::salute::
