Oh, I forgot.
Spitfire and Orkney Skull Splitter are pretty good as well.
Cheers

Hi Harry,
Is that the Spitfire brewed by Shepherd Neame of Faversham, Kent?

Can't remember Jeff cos it's ages since I tried it, but I'm pretty certain that it does come from Kent.

That's a great post, it sounds like something out of a Western.
"Barkeep, gimme a Black Butte, and smile when you do!"
Prost, beianand!
Bradley
Sorry Comrade but out west we don't pronounce Butte and Butt the same. We wait for visiting easterners to do so
Right, I said, "Byoot", not "butt", only Beavis would pronounce it that way.
Old Dominion Brewing Co. in Virginia brews a bourbon barrel stout, using barrels they buy from the Jack Daniels distillery. The oak imparts a bourbon flavor to the beer as it is lagered, it's excellent. The best of both libations!
Prosit!
Bradley
They also do a "Bishops Finger"! Not kidding......it's a very nice brew.
Yeah, I've tried it.
How about some of those winter brews you get in Suffolk and Norfolk. I'm especially thinking of Abbot Ale....I can't remember the last time I "lost" a couple of days in a more pleasant way...
Cheers

I like Abbot Ale, also Fiddlers Elbow, Hobgoblin, Tangle Foot, Old Peculiar, and do you remember Ruddles County and Bishops Tipple?

Count me in Beer and Bourbon...........Beers like lighter (not strength) asian less gasie beers (Tiger, Singha, etc) and interject with a nice JD or Jim Beam Black.
If doing spirits on their own like Candian Club with a diet coke or straight on ice!!!
ooohhhh too early too early!!!

Try not to except great occassions , then it's water beer like Coors or such. Too much makes the hands shake , causing havoc on the shelves. Mike
Well - considering I had my first beer(s) in 15 years when I went to England in May - I'd have to say my favorites are whatever Bitter happens to be on tap at an English Pub.. The House brew at Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem in Nottingham was outstanding as was the Bitter I had at a pub with Jeff, near Crowborough.. BTW, Jeff, do you remember the name of that pub?
As an aside - - - Jeff was a most excellent host as he put up with 6 of us for an entire day of sightseeing..Bodiam Castle, the town of Rye and Battle Abbey. Thx again Jeff, and there should be a little token of our appreciation winging it's way to you in the near future!
Now back to the topic of beer - I look forward to hoisting my next beer with Jeff, the next time I come to England. Simon - perhaps this time we'll be able to have a bitter at the "Olde Trip"!
Jim
