What other hobbies do you have besides K&C (1 Viewer)

I only had two teenaged girls to raise, but I didn't have a wife, so it seemed as though I had Eight.

I think bikini watching would be a lot more fun.

Hay man, I did the same thing only add a boy. At times not having a wife was great (no money fights or checkbook hassels) but when it came to raising two teenage girls a womans hand would have been nice. If I had to choose between raising my teenager agains, I would have had all boys. I will take the boy everytime. I had to bail my daughters out of jail, not my son. My daughters were sent home from school for a week for fighting, not my son. The list goes on. Every parent should lock girls age 12 to 23 in a cave at the edge of town and not release them into society until they are humans. Teenage girls are not human beings.;):) But I do love them and I would not do anything different.

I have a 3-year old son. My wife left last year and it's been tough. It ain't easy being a single dad. Plus, I lost an income. But I try and spend as much time with my son as I can. Plus, I'm going back to school. Between studying, raising a boy, and maintaining a home, I just like being outdoors. That's all it takes for me. Put me outside and I'm a happy man!

Be it known! That there is a "Special" bathroom in Heaven for the fathers of two or more daughters.
Other hobbies include Piping. It's almost as expensive as toy soldier collecting. Fishing, bicycle riding, military history, travel (especially to military historical sights.), skiing, drinking Guiness, reading historical books, drinking Guiness, taking naps, drinking Guiness, Fine dining(with a good wine.), chased by a Guiness.

Don't get me wrong, but raising too girls was the hardest thing I ever did, but it's the one thing in my entire life that makes me the proudest. After years of pulling my hair out, they turned out great.

Louis,

I have a four year old son and my wife is due with our second child July 22. Its a girl. We found out the gender for both of them prior to the ultra-sound using the Chinese baby gender prediction chart.

If you google Chinese baby gender prediction chart calender you'll find tons of web sites with it. This is one site that I just quickly copied and pasted
http://www.baby-talk.co.uk/chinese_calendar.htm Have a look its fairly accurate.

Hey- if you have some lapse in sanity and decide to leave beautiful San Diego and come visit the battlefields here in Gettysburg, I would put you up free of charge. I got plenty of Guinesses to share as well...........

I am really really sorry to hear that. I don't think I would be tough (or mature) enough to handle a situation like that. My brother had a divorce with his first wife and they are going through a bitter custody fight. I wish you the very best during this difficult and trying time.

Chriss. Thanks for the offer! I was just in Gettysburg last fall after the Chi. show. Was my third visit to The Hallowed Ground. Can/t get enough of the place.
You live in a beautiful area. You lucky guy. I find it a wonderful change of pace from the So.Cal. Rodent Regata.

Let me start by saying my wife is currently pregnant with our first child - I WAS thinking I'd like a girl, even though I'm a school teacher and really ought to know better, but some of your comments have made me ponder - but hey, when they're great, they're GREAT aren't they - girls that is - :)

As for hobbies, the ones I currently enjoy - prior to birth - ;) are: wargaming and figure collecting, playing drums, dance music, reenacting, airsofting, my car, eating out - those are the things I do on a fairly regular basis, FOR NOW.

Hi Everyone --- I am new to the forums and have been collecting K&C for about a year. I have gotten a real thirst for WW2 and collect Africa Korps, Battle of the Bulge and whatever ever else just strikes my fancy. I have collected dug civil war artifacts since I was a young boy and have a nice collection of documented relics from Gettysburg. G,Burg. is my favorite place to visit and I do a lot of day trips there. Just something about walking the hallowed grounds. John Zabawa at Gettysburg Miniatures is a good guy to deal with for K&C and other toy soldiers. My next gotta have is the captured German T-34.

I don't think there is a great deal of differences between the sexes, it all depends upon the personality they have.

Btw, what is Airsofting.

Hi there

Not sure what you mean by your opening comment but I understand the question - :)

Don't know whether you have airsofting in Oz, but very basically it involves teams of guys and gals running around in woodland or BUAs dressed in tactical/military/camo clothing, armed with replica guns of various shapes and sizes which fire 6mm plastic ball bearings - as with most hobbies, there are various subcultural/interest groups that go to make up the overall hobby - my particular interest is WW2 airsofting, a relatively recent and growing aspect of the hobby - it's great fun - :D

Hi, All you nice YOUNG people out there! I'm into the next generation, having raised three boys (actually my wife did the raising and I just stand here and take credit now that they have all turned out pretty well!). We have four grandchildren, one son has a 8-year old daughter, another has an almost- five-year old girl, a two year-old boy and a baby girl. "Grandpa" is a pretty cool job title to have. So far nobody has shown much interest in grandpa's soldiers (good!) but the little boy has taken a fancy to some of the small die-cast P51s that decorate a shelf of the den.

If I listed all my other hobbies and interests then you would see why I neve seem to get anything done in any of them.

Gary

Hay Gary, I have five grandchildren, four boys and one girl. The boys all want to play with Ba Pa's toys. I will occassionally let one of them move them around a diorama as long as we keep it a "secret." I just hope they all keep their promises to keep the secret cause I let them all do it.

My son is only 18 months old, and he already points up at the second floor ceiling to tell Daddy he wants to go to the museum. He is learning to respect the toys. I let him spin the propellers on the planes, wave the various flags, and move one toy soldier at a time. So far, he is learning to enjoy my toys without damaging any. I hope I can keep this up. The one thing I have going for me is I have a deadbolt lock on the door to which I have the only keys, so he only goes up there when I let him.

Its a girl! I guess I am in for some sleepless nights!

Louis

Best congratulations to you ... so now, maybe you will spend less time and money on the little tin soldiers.

Baby girls are the cutest ... its only when they grow up.
