What other hobbies do you have besides K&C (1 Viewer)

Is that mp-40 made by tokyo mauri? also I was not trying to give airsoft a bad name I had already surrendered.

Hi Rob. No, TM don't make an mp40 as far as I know. TOP make one, but mechanically it's not as good as the Chinese AGM - which this one is - the only thing I don't like about it is the fact it's black - I went to town a bit with a paint brush and some GW Boltgun Metal paint - I'm fairly happy with the result - :)

Is that footgear Waffen SS basic issue?? :D

Great looking weapons.

Hiya Chris. Thanks for the complements re the weapons - airsoft guns do look very realistic. As for the boots - hmmmm - Firstly, the uniform I'm wearing in that photo is Heer, not SS - part of my Grossdeutschland EM impression - but yes, the boots would have been standard issue by 1943/44. They are, infact, exact repros of WW2 German ankle boots bought from Richard Underwood over here in the UK - they come 'rough out' - I've gone to work on them with brown boot polish and original WW2 German dubbing. I haven't actually worn them in the field yet - they're a relatively recent acquisition - so they will go darker yet.

:D

Ah. Ok- yeah, they definately stood out. Need a couple good roadmarches back and forth to the front- Eastern or Western, take your pick. ;)

Take care and welcome to the forum- BTW- are you a re-enactor as well or is this for your airgun hobby only??

Hi again Chris

Yeah - the boots do need wearing in - :) I'm interested in reenacting as well, yes, but not heavily involved at the moment.

What about trainspoting. Anyone else here into that?
Just kidding

Damian Clarke

No train spoting, but I use to have an interest in model trains. Here is my German N scale layout which I still have.

I've always had an interest in motorcycles and had my first one 43 years ago. Today I have a Ducati 04 998S FE, Ducati 05 749S and 03 Triumph Thruxton.

Hi Donnie,

Nice layout! I appreciate the opportunity to see it. Thanks!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Thanks Pat.

I worked on it for 2 years building and weathering the structures and getting the terrain like I wanted it. Once I retire I hope to add another section as I have enough structures, trains and details to build several more this size.

Thanks Louis.

I think the desk is called a partners desk isn’t it? It has claw feet. My intention is to sell the desk and put something in the room that has some storage. I’m running out of room for KC storage.

Oz - I'm trying to attach some piccies here - partly for the hell of it to see if I can do it , partly to give you an idea of the sort of gear some of us 'softers' run around with - fingers crossed - ;)

Some nice looking gear there.

Btw, I just realised I actually had an airsoft rifle back in the 1990's without knowing what they were called. It was a Japanese plastic replica of a Colt semi auto and you put orange or yellow plastic bb pellets in the magazine in what looked like a telescopic sight and fired it with a pump-spring action. I had bought it from some toy collector and assumed it was a toy rather than an entry level airsoft weapon, after a few years in my posession I sold it to some guy for AU $50.

I did some googling and currently airsoft firearms in Australia are in the same category (A) as air rifles, rim fire .22s and single action shotguns. So downunder you would need to prove to the police that you needed the airsoft weapon and if they approved you'd have to pay a renewable licence fee. Which I guess explains why paintball is still popular here and why most people downunder haven't heard of airsoft - paintballers don't need a license. I guess the main problem with airsoft weapons downunder is that they look so real.

Following the fallout from the Port Arthur massacre, Australia now has some of the toughest gun laws in the world: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Arthur_massacre_(Australia)

Hi again Oz

Right, understood. Wasn't sure what the legal position was over there. Our gun laws are pretty strict, too - and getting more so. A new VCR bill - violent crime reduction - is coming into force soon. The precise details are still a bit up in the air but as of October the selling, importing and maufacturing of replica firearms is going to be increasingly tightened up - it's going to affect airsofting but it won't mean a total ban on the sport. If you want to trade in them you're going to have prove your credentials so to speak as a genuine and committed airsofter...:) We shall have to wait and see.

I used to do a lot of hunting in my younger days, mostly foxes, pigs and rabbits and I had several semi auto firearms. However with the tougher gun laws here that's all in the past, but I feel our country is safer for them. You can still get weapons but you have to prove that you need them and the police check your id, background etc.

I play airsoft and the bbs can really hurt if you have heavy bbs and a high velocity. My brother has a high end aeg and he shot me while I was on the ground 39 times and the blood was streaming from my arm. Needless to say I don't play with him anymore.

Hey Robert E. Lee!

You cracked me up with this story of your brother shooting you after you had surrendered! I don't know what was funnier - you getting shot by your brother or him shooting you after surrendering to him!!??!! Didn't you ever learn there is no such thing as surrender when it comes to brothers??!! :D

Very funny..

It sure wasn't funny to me:(

Sorry mate! Didn't mean to offend you. It just reminded me of all the running 'battles' I had with my brothers in NZ when we were kids. Got shot with an airgun by one of them and all mannerof damage done - but all in the fun of it at the time  I guess like Oz I do not understand the damage one of these 'airsoft' guns can do - never heard of them myself. I stick by my original standard though: Never under any circumstances surrender to a brother!! (They take no prisoners and don't abide by the Geneva Convention :) )

Take it easy out there

Kiwi

I was not offended at all! I was just wishing to express my sadness that that dreadful massacre had to take place. The same brother also shot me with a dart gun in the eye at point blank range. It went through my eyelid and now my left eye can not see as well. I have solved the airsoft problem by demanding we be on he same team. I have some problem playing airoft because I continue to attempt to use 19th century tactics!

No offense, but this doesn't sound like an activity with which I want to be involved. Sounds a little too dangerous!

I agree Brad,i'm more of an armchair General!:)

My brother and I used to play war with bee-bee guns. Ya really know when your hit and out of the game when you get shot with one of those, especially if you pumped it up a lot before shooting the other guy.

We used to shot little green army men with 22-shorts with about half the powder removed. We thought of playing war with 22's but a rare sense of reality got ahold of us and we did'nt do it.

We did use blackcat fire crackers in pinecones for handgrenades. Often had to avoid the stray silver salute or cherry bomb tossed in my direction round the 4th of July.

We even used to shoot arrows high into the air and play dodge the falling arrow. Good thing luck was on our side. I still have two eyes and all the other important body parts.

BB Gun wars, blowing up toy soldiers and model tanks with cherry bombs and M80's, ah, the good old days! I don't think our kids are going to be able to enjoy these pursuits like we did, as post 911, in my neck of the woods shooting BB guns at another person is criminal assault and possession of a BB gun which looks like a real firearm is a misdomeanor. They are even taking a zero tolerance policy with fireworks around here. On a certain level, I know my kids will be safer, but I think they will really miss out on a lot of old fashioned American fun.
