What Was Your First King & Country Set (1 Viewer)

Hi Sammy,
Thanks for the question...The very first K&C-owned piece I bought (or at least Laura and myself paid for by founding the company back in 1983) would have to be... A marching 'Highland Brigade' soldier. Photos later!

This thread is a great journey down 'Memory Lane'...Best wishes and happy collecting, Andy.

Hi Guys,

As promised here are a few pix of my own collection and K&C’s very first release some of which I still have.
First, the ship model... it is ‘HMS AGAMEMNON’, Admiral Nelson’s favourite command and a beautiful hand-made model I bought in Bangkok and is displayed in our Bangkok home.
Next up is a display cabinet in our house in Hong Kong. It’s full of ‘Parade’ figures... Many of which are Britain’s plus some ‘K&C’ and assorted other makers... Although we do not make many traditional ‘parade’ figures I do love collecting them!
One whole shelf is devoted to Scottish Regiments ... Another to Queen’s Guards... And one more for my old corps... Her Majesty’s Royal Marines.
Hope you like it all... or at least some of it!

All the best and happy collecting,
Andy

A beautiful boat indeed. I can imagine it fully crewed, lots of Red Coats scattered over it's decks and figures in the rigging. That's me always looking to make a 'WOW' factor, but than again you have it already, so need to do anything more. A real eye catcher to say the least. Spoilt boy Andy. Robin.

Thanks for posting the photos Andy, some outstanding displays!!!! Love the older K&C sets and the ship is a crown jewel in a beautiful collection, thanks again for posting the photos.

I started collecting K&C in 1983/84 and the British Colonial "glossies" along with some ACW glossies were my first purchases. When K&C started the "matt" figures (Arnhem) it changed my collecting tastes! Hoping for many more years of collecting K&C.

Mine was this Glossy Teddy Roosevelt & Rough Riders set, in 1991 or 1992. When I got the brochures, and saw Tanks, and Gulf War Soldiers, and wooden Aircraft, I went nuts and went back and bought every glossy K&C piece I could find. Like Rich, when K&C switched to matt figures with the Arnhem release in 1995, I switched with them, and went equally hog wild . . . {sm4}

Look forward to seeing you in Chicago and making a few more great memories!

My first purchase of King & Country figures was in 2006...The Catapult Set (MK025) and Mounted Knight with Axe (MK024). That was the beginning of my huge Crusades siege diorama project, which is still a work in progress, 11 years later. I have surprised even myself.

My very first K&C Figure was the original The West Series - Crazy Horse Mounted! Back then, I only collected personalities and finding a "new" company to me was quite exciting and in Matte, I thought very realistic! Now of course, how the mountains have moved and new figure detail is amazing. Anyhow, The West was my first K&C and still enjoy them today! I no longer have The West series as I traded and sold in order to further my K&C Gloss as well as to complete Arnhem and Vietnam!

I have a master painted prototype of this figure, along with all the other figures of that Confederate generals release, a gift from Andy with the diorama Gordon built for the release at the last Symposium Andy had attended.
