What would collectors like to see from W. Britain in the future. (1 Viewer)

1914 French cavalry (to add to the earlier releases), 1914 French artillery, 1914 French medical units, more 1914 French infantry (marching mode), 1914 French light infantry, 1914 French Blue Devils (alpine troops)... -- Al
 
Ken, I only collect ACW and just started to collect Empires after seeing them at a West Coaster and talking to Erica, some of these maybe repeats from other posts, ACW limbers, caissons, forge, battery wagons, need to finish out the batteries we have all started. ACW staff horses and horse holders for all of the officers we have. ACW Infantry, would be nice to have a solid company level firing line. Did I mention limbers and caissons.:) ACW Infantry from the Western Armies, some western depot style jackets or uniforms. Did I mention limbers and caissons. :) ACW Camp scenes with tents, stacked rifles, accessories, battlefield debris we can buy separately such as bread boxes, ammunition crates, rifles, knapsacks, blankets, wagon wheels and so on. Did I mention caissons and limbers. :)ACW Confederate medical units, already have federal with more casualties, some horse casualties. Did I mention caissons and limbers. :) Western battle scenarios such as Franklin, Chickamauga, Vicksburg, anything really. I am desperate for anything Western. :D Did I mention caissons and limbers.:) ACW Naval personnel, would build a scale ironclad or gunboat if I had figures to go with it. This could include a heavy naval gun that could also be used with fortifications.

Empires, not too much to request here as I just started, love the figures but could we get some George Rogers Clark troops, would like a blockhouse and cabin, not too much to request as some of the latest releases will keep me busy for awhile. Love the Butlers and Middle State troops and where this is going.

I'll repeat my request for Hessians, American artillery and mounted officers for AWI/Clash of Empires......
 
Would like to see some Confederate Cavalry in both mounted and dismounted depictions preferably mid to late war. The whole industry has somewhat neglected this branch on the grey side of the ledger for many years. Collectors Showcase and their nine trooper two Mosby centric rollouts helped quench the drought. Maybe Confederate cavalry is not a very robust seller. However have heard credible rumors that WB has some great ideas and inventory in the pipeline. Fantastic news. The incredible K&C sculpts with wounded and mounting up figures were excellent but with them exiting this conflict and with WB just as in tune to historically sensible haberdashery, WB rollouts that address both plausible scenarios would be most welcome. Perhaps another Collectors Club rollout or two to augment the previously released ACW 1st Virginia Cavalry dismounted figurines maybe along the lines of a figure holding four horses and another trooper or officer to finish out the rendition. All for limbers and caissons on both sides as well as some Union or Rebel horse holders, a mounted or dismounted bugler and perhaps a specialized Federal mounted unit depiction like the 3rd New Jersey Cavalry (1st US Hussars), the early war orange piped US Dragoons, the 5th Michigan at Gettysburg with Sharps Rifles (yes Black Hawk has already done this) or the 6th Pennsylvania Cavalry (Rush's Lancers) in pre April 1863 motif (with some troopers carrying red pennant adorned lances) would be solid additions as well. Depicting the cavalry on both sides in behind the lines camp depictions would also be excellent releases. That would really explain the impact and logistics of horse flesh in the conflict. Who can forget WB's legendary hatless 1st Virginia trooper holding his mount getting a new shoe hammered into place courtesy of the regimental farrier. Finally a series of late war circa late 1863,1864-65 ACW Union cavalry that touches on depicting troopers carrying and firing the Spencer repeating carbine and its augmenting Blakeslee tube cartridge boxes against some late war Confederate cavalry that evolved its tactics to trying to marginalize the superior Union carbines firepower and overall troop strength numbers by dismounting and offsetting the newer engagement techniques with muzzle loading long arms that had greater range while at the same time taking wear and tear off the eroding quality and quantity of their overused horses. Biased towards ACW cavalry but WB have always seemed to depict the topic slightly better than other manufacturers with more understated and plausible sculpts and paint. The incredible dismounted Union cavalry rollouts the last three years really cemented this view of their work and commitment to historical accuracy. Also Happy Fathers Day to all.

I'd like to join those who have already expressed a desire for more ACW Western Theater subjects. Specifically, I'd like to see:

8th Wisconsin -- assault up Graveyard road at Vicksburg.
21st Ohio -- defense of Horseshoe Ridge at Chickamauga.
Wilder's Lightening Brigade at Hoover's Gap.

Confederates with Western battle flags -- Polk, Hardee, and Van Dorn patterns.

  • French Empress Dragoons (on foot)
  • Prussians (Foot Regiments and Mounted Uhlans)
  • Russians with various regiments and battle flags, including Cossack.
  • Bavarians

Am. Civil War:
  • Confederate Ambulance Wagon and figures
 
French Foreign Legion (Algeria - early 1900's) and Arabs or Berbers (mounted and dismounted)

These would be great but are probably so time consuming to make they would be cost prohibitive.

Not at all Mark...the 100th Anniversary of WWI rearranged our release dates on several sets, that's all.
I am just trying to bring it in cheaper than our Anglo-Zulu War gun and limber.

I'm hoping with what I read on HB forum that there are WWII sets in the works sooner then later, and no I didn't see any photos but wish I had!!! again as the WWI sets looked really good I'm hoping for any WWII series to come along at some point...Sammy
 
Ken, are you saying we could possibly see limbers and caisson soon? I wish I knew how much the Zulu set cost so that I can start budgeting. Will there be a Confederate and Federal version? That would definitely open the door on a number of scenarios. Chris

My dioramas look great but when you look at them something is missing. All the figures are standing with no casualties lying on the ground. To make the battle look like it is progress we need more casualty figures lying on the ground not in the act of falling for almost all periods.

1 War along the Nile British & Mahdist
2 American Revolution British & American
3 Clash of the Empires.

And other periods also. The only British casualty figure on the ground for the American Rev is one 71st Highlander in a 2 pc set. Bottom line is we need to make our large dioramas more bloodier with dead bodies. I do see a few more than in the past but keep up with more dead poses. The only period that I see with a variety of dead poses is the ZULU WAR.
