What would collectors like to see from W. Britain in the future. (2 Viewers)

When talking with Ken at the recent Chicago Show, he mentioned to me that he bought a beautiful and extremely comprehensive reference book about the Seven Years War, and in particular Frederick the Great's army.
Witnessing the enthusiasm he expressed when describing the book, I wouldn't be surprised when he would free some of his sculpting time towards that subject in the future and I would very much like to see it :smile2:

Hi Konrad,
Did you happen to catch the name of the book or the author?
Thanks,
Joe

Sorry, Joe,

Ken mentioned the title and the author, but I do not remember it.
I believe it is a book distributed in Europe or maybe Germany only.
It is a rather large book and a bit expensive.
Think he said a number north of 200, not sure if $ or EUR.

However, he was very very excited about the tremendous details offered with this book.
You know his love for detail and I think it takes a bit to get him that excited.

I suggest you send him a pm, and I'm sure he will have the info for you.
Or maybe he even posts the info here, once he reads the post.

Cheers!

Konrad

Hi guys,
I am on the road traveling to the Toy Soldier Museum open house in Cresco, PA at the moment.
When I return I will list the info on this great book for you. It was a Christmas gift from Ericka to me. Don Troiani gave her the suggestion...

How about a destroyed British foot artillery piece from Waterloo?

Never seen a toy soldier maker make anything like this, a maker will be willing to make countless sets of RHA but only ever release one RFA piece. Maybe a destroyed wheel with 2 dead crewman lying on ground. Another crewman helping a wounded comrade walk away and maybe one more sitting on ground dazed. Cannon could have one wheel blown off and in parts with some spare wheel debris lying around.

Or what would be even COOLER is a model of a gun and crew in the middle of being hit (like the old civil war confederate casualties set) with the gun having a large area of flame on one of it's wheels, a ramrod sitting half in the cannon and the person using it being flung back but with hand still outstretched as if he has just been using it! A crewman standing at the side nearest the blast being blown to the side with ripped clothing and blood at the side nearest the blast. Another gunner standing behind the gun with the igniter hokding it in one hand and shielding his face with the other! An NCO with sword in background looking shocked and bewildered! And one more gunner falling backwards as if stunned by a blast!

Would like to see a member of the 20th foot at the battle of minden.....this would be a different soldier as he would have roses in the tricorn hat....so far britains have made a 5th and 6th of foot for the redcoat range...all they have to do is make the 7th of foot and 20th of foot and you have the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers ....who celebrate along with other regiments on the 1st of August every year the battle of minden

WB could do a great job with the SYW and Frederick the Great's Prussian army.
First, though, we need some Hessians for the AWI series.

How about something like the older Napoleonic sets, like the Nassau sets and the Coldstream guards surgeon set. Maybe a Black Brunswick surgeon or Bb wounded being helped to the nearest surgeon?

There are gaps in the Nassau sets which I think it would be great for Ken to fill! Like a standard bearer, officer and nco set, maybe a drummer and some wounded and dead!

They could even be limited editions of 250 or something?

A mounted Nassau officer would be great! And possibly the prince of orange!

Some lying dead for the 105th French Ligne sets!

A dead Royal Dragoon to lie beside the dead horse released before!

I agree! The Royal Netherlands Army has been sorely neglected!

Would like to see more Butler's and Indians for the Clash series, saw we have some hunting shirts coming out this winter which is good. Could always use more hunting shirts to balance things out. Maybe some scenic pieces for the Clash series? Blockhouse perhaps. How about Confederate camp scenes, doctor sets, stretchers and music (tooters) to balance out the Federal releases. Unfortunately, the latest catalog did not have any ACW and I fear it may be the start of a drought of sorts for ACW with a limited number of releases this year. We did enjoy quite a few during the 150th period so I should not complain.

I have all but given up on ACW limbers, battery forges, battery wagons or caissons. I have some of the Engineers in my organization at work trying to convert a WB Santa wheel barrel, a WB gun carriage and the WB cart into a limber. Needless to say, they are still working on it. Chris

What i do not want to see:
Flagbearers with plastic flags like "31244 - Federal Color Sergeant Abel Peck, 24th Michigan, 1863"

I understand the problems with weight and cost, but ... plastic ... ^&confuse

I thought that this is one of the best flags they have done to date.

How about some dead British and French Napoleonic officers....YES officers? Officers lying shot or being carried away in blankets. Officers with wounds in arms/legs still commanding.

Maybe even some dead cavalrymen who have died along with their noble steeds?

The Death of the Duke of Brunswick at Quatre Bras 1815! And Black Brunswick Hussars and standing standard bearer!

Some 1/30 scale WW2 Luftwaffe pilots and ground crew on par with the William Britain's "On Watch" U-boat captain and crewman. I recently saw a photo on an eBay auction of these. They were incredibly detailed, proportioned and painted!

I think that the ACW caisson/limber is on the drawing board....maybe Ken can reply. Certainly WB has provided collectors with some great ACW artillery sets so now its time to finish the job with the caissons and standing horses.

I too would like to see more Napoleonic figures, a few ideas I'd like to see.

First the French:

Another two or three French Eagle standard bearers representing other Regiments at Waterloo.
Set of the NCO's protecting the Eagle.
French Fusiliers standing with grounded arms awaiting orders.
Fusilier firing on the march
Mounted French Fusilier Regiment Officer.
Marching Fifer and Drummer set. but no more Great coats please !
Set of Infantry fleeing a Cavalry attack.
More wounded.
Foot Artillery sets.
Cuirassiers.

For the British:
Regimental colour bearer for 92nd Gordon Highlanders along with Piper, drummer, Sergeant and kneeling defending and other similar positions used in the 42nd range especially another standing firing figure.
Mounted Officers for the Regiments so far released, plus one or two for Wellingtons staff such as DeLancey.
Individual figures and sets representing KGL. Both line and Light Infantry Battalions and 1st Hussars.
Colour Sergeants for existing sets. New set of Colours for the 42nd flying in the wind as the newer 44th and foot Guards ones Casualties for the 95th and finally for now another Foot Artillery set please !

Regards
Steve

I think La Haye Sainte would be a great opportunity for Ken!

Could essentially kill two birds with one stone; KGL defending La Haye Sainte along with a mounted Major Baring commanding the KGL at La Haye, and infantry 8n a multitude of poses!

Would get the KGL regiment out of the way! Don't forget a standard bearer and plenty of wounded and the 3 loopholes in the wall that the men managed to create to fire through!

Also a model of the gate with the 'piggery' beside it and some specially designed figures to lie and sit on top of the 'piggery' and fire towards the French!

A colour bearer for the Black Brunswickers too!

Cheers!

Hi Scott

I'd second your recommendation to Ken for La Haye Sainte and KGL ! I'd certainly like to see that as well, perhaps released in parts for those of us on a budget.

Since Britains are now releasing figures of 1st Foot Guards hopefully they'll include the colours for the 3rd Battalion, 1st Foot Guards as well.
I wonder will we be seeing a release of Chasseurs of the Imperial Guard soon to contend with the Foot Guards !?

Regards
Steve
