Whiskey,Scalps,And Beaver Pelts (1 Viewer)

Larry . . . . perhaps I will have two favorite ranges . . . How about Whiskey, scalps, and salt water landings?
:smile2: Mike

Well ... :rolleyes2: ... okay, but only if you make a diorama of the JJD F4F-3 Wildcats and Mountain Men on the deck of the Bunker Hill and the crew are all in raccoon skin hats ... {sm2}

I look forward to this theme that can encompass the American and Canadian west. John’s sculpting of Indians in a scene of life as the west grew, depicting 1850’s thru early 1900. Could include the Yukon gold rush with NWMP figures.

Don. :smile2:

I'd also like to see him tackle the NWMP. I guess time will tell.

Don't think it's same time period but perhaps some day. The Riel Rebellion would be something different and John could still make indians. Me love the Mounties too!^&grin^&grin

Today I received my Caption Contest prize package from John. Included in the package was the prototype figure of the mounted Indian from John's new range Whiskey, Scalps, and Beaver Pelts. This was one of the prototype figures included in the JJD Treasure Hunt at the September 2018 Chicago show. Just incredibly detailed and sculpted . . . .

That's a beautiful piece Mike. I have been patiently waiting for this to be released. Could you please return the master to John so he can produce it.^&grin, Robin.

Well Robin, since it was you that asked, I guess I will return it . . . er, NOT . I'm waiting on the release of this range too but I don't think patiently would describe it.

Congrats Mike! What a piece! If this figure is any indication of what lies ahead, then I can't wait for this range to be released!!

Thanks Mark. I hear what you're saying . . . This has all the ear marks of a fantastic range to collect . . .

I believe John is going to officially announce this range in March.

I'm all in on this series...I'll find some room somewhere...I have 2 tv trays that are not full yet...^&grin

I think he is going to release this series slowly so people will be able to fit it in their budgets.I like that idea.

I would expect to see John produce a Red River cart for this series. One of the main transport vehicles of the fur trade. The all wooden construction caused them to squeak loudly when moving. A train of carts could be heard for miles on the Great Plains.

Also, anyone interested in viewing some great images of the fur trade era, look up the art of the late artist/illustrator John Clymer. His portrayal of that period can't be beat.

I am glad John is interested in this period. While not a very battle conflict era, the diorama prospects are emence. The whiskey trade, prospectors, NWMP in their uniform.

Fort Whoop Up to the Klondike Gold Rush can be depicted. I do believe that John will know the market and will sell.

I Think this will be more 1820's-1840's time period.

Mark...
I talked to John briefly the other day...
he said Jeremiah Johnson and Mountain Men were his inspirations for this series...
so I think you're pretty close on your time frame...
maybe a decade or two later...

I'm hoping John announces this range soon.We have got to be close.
Mark

Was hoping this range would start this month but it was not to be.The ACW 54th Mass.figures look great though.
