Why the name Market GARDEN? (2 Viewers)

Thanks Tom;

Pictures are made "as good as outdoors". I take the pictures for my dioramas in my green house. The whole ceiling gives natural light. Sometimes the result is a complete failure (a lot of unexpected dark shadows) sometimes the natural effects give an extra dimension.

THE STORY CONTINUES....:smile2:

The 504th PIR (82nd US Airborne Div.) failed at the night of September 17th to take the railroad bridge in Nijmegen because Kampfgruppe Henke had established at the same time a line of defensive posts on the southside of the bridge. It was close but the German timing was better...

We see here commander Henke in his Kübel nereby the bridge.

At night, the recce Btn of the 10th SS Pz. Div. arrived from the northside of the roadbridge so that both bridges were secured. Commander Euling of the Kampfgruppe with the same name was directing his troops into the town. Notwithstanding the fact that the inhabitants were already celebrating the arrival of the paras, the buildings, surrounding the river Waal, were in German hands. The new SS troops were even welcomed by the children of the garrisoncommander.

When on Sept. 18th the 508 paras tries to take the roadbridge, the Germans feel strong enough to launch a counterattack on the Groesbeek Heights on the southside of the bridge. Early in the morning another SS Kampfgruppe (Fürstenberg) arrived. No panzers yet; only four lethal Jagdpanzer IV tank destroyers were at that time available on the scene but they managed to hold and even to counter for several hours. When General Browning landed that afternoon with the airborne corps, he realised that he was compmanding a most hazardous operation in Nijmegen...

You're right, Guy. Next time this kind of inacurracies must be avoided with a little help of goddess Photoshop...
On the other hand such blunders are strong hints to our godhead Andy and especially to his almighty Brother to rewrite the story of Creation: "On the third day He created some typical Dutch townhouses...."{sm4}

Thank you guys for all these kind comments. I was considering to stop this thread as getting "out of ammo" but I'll gather some other pics together for you! The least I can do after these comments:wink2:

Indeed, Panzer Ace!
I always mix in my TS scenes. HB is since many years on top of my vehicle hit parade. On the other hand I replace the HB figs mostly by K&C's... We go for the best quality...

The German counterattack (2th SS Fallschirmjägerkorps) on September 20th in the Groesbeek area (Riethorst) against the 505th and 508th PIR, whereby the paras were supported by British tanks of the Coldstream Guards...:tongue:
