Nice pics mate good to see you posting some............{bravo}}

Excellent Mitch. Those are some great sets and I like your scenery as well.

Thanks for that. The grass is a mix of parsley and oregano and some railway model soil. Gives a nice smell and is really realistic as ground cover

Afternoon Mitch;
First nice to see some of your handiwork.
Second, (a mix of parsley and oregano) REALLY?

I had been considering raiding the wife's herb & spice cabinets for some time but was kinda concerned that the herbs, etc would hurt the paint. We drink a lot of tea in this house and have dozens of old tea bags every week. I wonder if the dried tea leaves would work? :confused:
There are dozens and dozens of different looking (TINY) leaves that might make a great base.

Anyone ever use [USED / Dry] tea as a dio material???

Larry..

Thanks for that. I used to use tea leaves also when I was modelling in 1/35th scale but, not for a while it made great mud looks. I use a lot of herbs to recreate grass as its an excellent medium and, its very cheap and, as long as you don't mind the smell for a day or two as it wears away its a thing well worth using. I have never had a problem with paint problems using these products anymore than plaster or claycrete or, other things used for ground work. Obviously, the grass matts are easier if your pushed for time but, I do like making them for me and, as commisions.

Look forward to seeing some of your dio's after the wife's cupboard is raided!!!

Nice group of vehicles and nice pics. I sometimes use herbs as well in my dioramas for both grass and shrubs
guy:smile2:

Larry
I use tea leaves in my dios . I mostly use them for woodland ground cover and for autumn leaves

Nice scene Mitch, I like your scenery, are your rocks and Trees woodland scenics? They look like they are Railway items and work very well.

Larry, have never used Tea in a dio but have used Coffee as churned up earth on my ME109 dio. As Mitch said the smell was strong for a few days but it was worth using as the effect was quite good.

Thanks for the comments. The scenary is all hand made the rocks are from home made moulds and are from plaster the hills are from scratch and from foam my TV came in and then covered with model bandage and then claycrete added to give texture andadhere the plaster rocks. Grass is again home made using litchen coloured with paint and glued. the spikey grass is a brush head cut down inro the sizes I want and coloured accordingly. I will put some of the before and during construction in the how to section sometime today.

Mitch, yes I have about three in mind but am just trying to decide what to do first, I agree with you in that it's great to get back in the ' dio saddle' as it were when you've not built one for a while. At the moment I'm gathering materials which is also fun!

Rob

I love finding stuff for dio's and, often I find the best stuff when out walking in the woods near my home great tree's and other great things that are really hard to replicate by hand. Don't know what people must think when I am in the middle of the woods with secatures in hand and a sainsbury's bag grabbing allsorts!!!!
Look forward to seeing your dio's

Okay (Rob / Guy and Mitch) then off to the "Gourmet Aisle" in the local food store to see what I can find.

Now I am going to have to figure out how I can convince the wife that I am taking up the fine art of food preparation when I come home with a bag full of Sage, Rosemary and Thyme. ^&confuse
Peanut Butter and Jelly is about my normal limit. Okay ... maybe a grilled cheese. {sm2}
