Cool display......almost frosty looking ;)

I used to wonder what all the excitement was with Winter displays but the more I saw of Kevin/Pandas dios and others, the more I liked them. The K & C Battle of the Bulge is now my favourite range.

I won't post any pics yet as I'm waiting on a cabinet maker to build me some replacement display shelves. Initially he was only going to make a hutch for my wifes desk. But I thought, well why he's doing that he may as well do some things for me. The score is now things for Oz: 3 Wife: 1. I'll enjoy it while it lasts ;)

Hey, in the last picture is that a New Model Army figure in the centre smoking a cig? Who allowed him in there to sully the winter white purity of a K&C diorama?:p

Thanks OZ

I really love the Winter Germans and I am hoping to see some great new releases this year.

Make to lets see those new displays - when ready.

Nice Ron! Is that baking powder/soda you are using for the snow?

KV

Actually, I bought the "fake snow" from the hobby store. Snow in a can :p

I works great and is easy to move around on a display - I have never done baking powered - doesn't it dry out ?

Ron

Hi, guys!

Nice dio, Ron!

As to baking powder for snow, I've never heard of anyone using that, but I've used baking soda for a diorama in 1/72 of a US halftrack somewhere in Europe, winter 44-45. Talking to guys at my modeling club, some suggested that it will take on a yellowish hue over time, but "fake" snows do not. I built the dio in October, and the snow still looks white, but I'm keeping an eye on it for any changes.

That it can change makes perfect sense to me, since the soda can react to compounds in the air. On the other hand, any box of baking soda I've left in the fridge to absorb odors remained white, but then, the low temperature could be enough to slow chemical reaction almost to a stop.

Anyway, it seemed to work. Here's a pic of that dio, by the way (I apologize for the quality, I didn't take the pic, but got it from a guy in my club):

Great looking display Ron - as always. I had a fabulous winter display for my Crusaders, but the desert heat kept melting away the snow - so I gave up on it. LOL

Great Dioramas all the way around ! :D

OK - come on guys lets post some of those pictures !!

Actually its not my display. Its kings x from the Texas Show. They bring that to every show they go to for toy soldier show.

Also I ment to take a picture of the proto type of the Rommel Desert Horsch.

SV288 or anyone else...

Do you know what's the bridge that was used by King X in the diorama?

Where to buy one?

It's the same bridge that Gordon used in the WWI German Lancers diorama!!!

(I know Gordon used the LGB rail bridge on his winter diorama)
