I looking for some info on several sets that were issued throught the Britains Collector's Club that had to do with Christmas.

I believe there were only 3 different scenes done.

One was a 11th Hussar standing on his horse gathering mistletoe from a tree. Another was two highlanders of the Black Watch bringing supplies for the Christmas dinner, and the 3rd I can't remember.
The firgures came with their own winter scene bases.

I remember the two I have listed because I have them in my collection. I would like to find the third one. Any info on what the set consisted and the set number would be a great help.

Thanks, Chuck

That's the other one!

Thanks Britfarmer!

By chance you don't happen to know the item number and what year it was produced?

Chuck

No problem, glad to be of help Chuck.

It is item #40173 released in 2002

41129 was the Highland regiment released 2003

41130 was 11th Hussars released 2004

Not sure if you are aware that all three of these fit into a specially made base for them.

I still need these 3 too, have seen pics, just never have seen it for sale.

That's right! wow, I had forgotton about that too.
I take it that the base was a seperate purchase? I remember the set coming with smaller bases that the figures were placed upon (snow scene).
IIRC they also came with a Christmas card that showed a illustration of the set that were based on actual cards/illustration from the Victorian era. Is that correct?

Tom, Ive seen them now and then on fleabay :p. I remember seeing the set I'm looking for on a collector's list, but I thought he wanted too much for it at the time. Using that old hindsight, maybe I should have bought it. :( LOL

That I am not sure of as I do not actually own the sets. I took the information from Norman Joplins book.

I know craig1985taylor has the sets and the base, hopefully he can let us know.

Hi Guys,

Great sets. I own two of them and for whatever reason I didnt get the others when they were available. I wish I had but you know how it is with other items coming up and other things becoming priorities. As for the Winter sets coming up on Ebay, they do but only once in a Blue Moon and they always seem to go for really crazy prices. They are some of the best sets produced by WBritians for Christmas so it is logical that they command a high price. As for the base they fit in I have seem one on ebay in the past 5 years so good luck on that one. I dont know how many were produced but you can rest assured they didnt make many since they were for the Collectors Club and not general retail. So good luck in your quest!

Hi as Scott said ive got the 1st three sets with the winter base all very nice :) I bought them all at there release date so only had to pay there original price! Ive never seen them on Ebay so not sure how much they go for nowadays.

Craig

I just remembered that the guards toy soldier centre had all 3 & the base when I last went in december but i didn't enquire how much as i already had them!

This is Norman Joplin
Regarding the base for the Winter series of 3 this was designed and then made by JG miniatures John Gittins, who is the maufacturer of many other fine backdrops,I believe that it may have been an idea conceived by Lynn Kenwood of the Guards Toy Soldier Centre in London, however John Gittins fine work and his subsequent heavy work load is such that I am unsure if he would be prepared to make any others

Hi Craig,

Any chance you might be able to post a photo of the 3 sets on the base ?

I have seen the Christmas in Natal set, but not the others.

Thanks, Raymond.:)

Beautiful there are !!

Hi Scott,

Thanks very much for the link to Craig's Christmas sets. The WB Christmas sets are lovely.

I think Craig posted pics of all his WB sets, except the Horse Guards set.

These sets are tough to find. I have seen the Christmas in Natal set on eBay a few months back.

Appreciate your help,

Raymond.:)

Craig's WB Christmas sets are beautiful, I would love to find the "Christmas in Natal" set

Cheers

Martyn:)
