WIP Hue / Saigon etc 3D Printed (1 Viewer)

Yesterdays painting now dried another couple of pics. Second showing building facade, should get the balcony bits for this one to paint and add this coming week time permitting then just needs a little weathering and adding a few period advertisements.

Great idea Steve :salute::

Painting those facades is sure a lot more fun than queuing for petrol

Cheers Martyn !:salute::

Thought I'd save that doubtful pleasure for sometime in the week !

I reckon these facades would do just as well as stand in's for Shanghai, Fall of HK or Singapore etc !

If portraying normal street scenes I'll have to see about stocking the shops, photos maybe the way to go, or if doing war torn scenes, looters may have gotten there first and stripped them

Interesting comment and point of view. Assuming you're thinking of Toy Soldiers in K&C, JJD, TG, WB etc in particular, 3D printed items won't appeal to many people as you still have the job of painting and most collectors I would think don't want to be bothered with painting and/or assembly unless they're also into smaller scale such as 28mm for war gaming.
Where it can go, is it gives a alternative to what is currently available on the market for those who are willing to put in the hours needed to paint and if someone makes it a hobby within a hobby of doing the painting and selling them already painted. so I think 3D printing having any significant impact on the sales of 1.30th scale quiet a long way off. I know there is another member of the Forum who does paint up and sell on ebay perhaps he will like to give his view !
One other thing that is often forgotten is Brand loyalty and that effects peoples willingness to spend money !

Balcony painted and attached to corner Shophouse. Another couple I've only primed so far, but adding the Balcony really does give the building that something extra.

Steve,

I agree with you. 3D printing can be a valuable tool when options are limited. With this said, there is a tremendous amount of money and work involved to go this route. The Japanese Akagi island in one of my dio's was 3D printed and while I am thrilled with the results, it took a lot of resources to complete. I don't believe most collectors are interested in doing this thus, K&C, TG and others are likely to have the upper hand for many years to come.

I’ve been getting 3D printed buildings for last couple of years and been really happy with the choice of stuff you can get made

3D Printing is a great and useful addition to the hobby…not an alternative.

As far as I know no one has yet invented 3D Painting!
All the best,
Andy.

The painting is expertly done Steve and the street scene very realistic. THe Vespa shop is a nice touch. :salute:: Chris

Thanks Chris ! :salute::

Would like to see Andy and K&C doing some more civilians and Tuk Tuk's for this range as they add new dimensions to dioramic scenes.
