Wm Britain now has a YouTube channel (1 Viewer)

Brad,

Thanks for posting this information about the resurgence of WB. Let's hope they have rounding success in their new adventure!

The painting on those figures is great, reminds me of First Legion. Impressive product.

It occurs to me that some collectors may not be familiar with YT and are perhaps unaware that the default settings for viewing are often not the best.

To turn up the resolution for playback, click on the little gear-thingy, and select the highest available, typically 720p or 1080p.

Wow, those are really nice. I hope things start flowing for WB. I really enjoy their figures and would like to add something new. These new Continental's look outstanding.

WB needs to communicate on this forum like other makers , communicate and respond customer questions, and when products are to be released, they are, not 1 to 2 yrs later like the zulu war figures,
I have always purchased WB in the earlier days , these day JJ and TG

There are a few good reasons why WBritain choses not to regularly use this forum. As we often forget, there is a toy soldier world outside of this (excellent) forum.

I’d be interested to hear those reasons. This Forum basically provides free advertising for manufacturers. All the principal manufacturers take advantage of the Forum. Why not WB. If you’re not going to use the Forum, FB or Instagram are the obvious alternatives. However, they seldom post on FB (although their postings have been more frequent lately) and they have no Instagram page.

If people are curious about this, I recommend reaching out to WBritain and asking, as I don't think it is my place to speak on their behalf.

Speaking on my own account, as a continuing customer of Treefrog, and as a good friend of other dealers, there are issues about preferential treatment for dealers. I want to emphasize that I do not intend this as a criticism of other manufacturers or of Treefrog.

This is what I call, to put it nicely, a disappointing response.

First, you say there are reasons but then what asked about it, you say you can’t talk about it. You shouldn’t have raised it then.

Then you raise what seems like a non sequitur about so called preferential treatment of dealers, which is a serious allegation, but do not name the dealers or state whether this is limited to WB or even involves WB. Preferential treatment means that manufacturers are giving dealers special considerations but then you say this is not intended as a criticism of other manufacturers. You can’t have it both ways, either it is or it isn’t. It begs the question of why you even bother to mention it.

Rather amazing behavior.

This seems like a rather disproportionate reaction to what I was trying to make a very reserved post. I apologize if that did not come through in my words. Let me explain things in plainer language:

I have spoken about this with members of the WBritain team, they gave me what I considered a pretty good explanation, and I think it is important that people know their choice not to participate here often is not arbitrary or out something like laziness. That said, I feel that it would be wrong for me to speak on their behalf or betray their confidence.

As to MY thoughts about manufacturer participation in this or any other forum, I think we lose sight of the fact that this forum, like other dealers' forums, is part of Treefrog's business model as well as a generous service it provides to the community. While some manufacturers clearly see participation here as nothing more than engaging on a popular toy soldier social media platform, I know others engage here in a more conscientious manner and some avoid engaging here to avoid the appearance of favoring a particular dealer.

What I am saying is that everyone involved has their own reasons, and rather than making bad-faith assumptions about those reasons, it is our responsibility to assume the best intentions or reach out to the actual people involved and ask.

The problem is you’re saying there are legitimate reasons but that you can’t discuss them. If you raise an issue, you shouldn’t try to hide from giving an answer. Otherwise, don’t raise the issue.

As far as WB not engaging because they feel that so doing might show they are favoring Treefrog, they seemed to have no such inhibitions until they couldn’t produce product (unlike other makers), particularly the 88, and were criticized for it. Despite many promises the 88 still has not made an appearance. I wonder if we’ll be having this discussion next year.

Do K & C, FL, Team and TG really think they’re favoring Treefrog when they post their dispatches here? Although Treefrog may sell product as a result of those dispatches, the makers post here because it’s one way of getting the news out to collectors but it’s not the only venue they use. For example, K & C uses FB, YouTube and Instagram. They don’t shut themselves from all forms of social media (and that’s what this Forum is) as WB has.

W. Britain's do themselves a disservice by not using TF for what ever reason and frankly I can not think of any reason not to. They are not very good at promotion with out using TF.

I would like to point out that since the Youtube channel was announced with an opening video in July 2020 there has been no further videos........................

I give this thread another 2 days max before the Britains/Ken protector squad [you know who you you are] start posting deflection posts, look back at the other negative Britains posts and you will see it happens a lot. Basically they are deflective posts but all they actually say is "Ken is my Friend, stopping being mean to him".

I have met Ken at the London Show a few times and he is a nice guy and great to chat too about Toy Soldiers, I stopped asking about releases, as i did not want to embarrass him or hear something i have heard over and over again. Such as stuff is coming soon, it has been shipped, over the next few months we can expect regular deliveries. Us Brits can be quite reserved and asking about lack of releases and poor management would be embarrassing and the same as asking someone about a huge wart they have on their nose, we are very polite. I do admire Ken as he take the time to come over to the UK and he is no spring chicken, i do not know if i would at his age. He is not alone in that but he does travel many miles, i often think when i am at a show and i look around that it can look a bit like Gods waiting room..................

On why Britains/Ken do not engage with TF Forum, we do not hear reasons in the this thread, just excuses. This forum is the main communication tool for getting information out to the community, every manufacturer is on here, in many cases they put new stuff on the forum before they put it on their own website. I think there are reasons, firstly there is nothing positive to put up and secondly by engaging on the TF Forum it opens the floodgate for people to ask what is happening and complain.

I really want them to succeed as they are a great old name in toy soldiers and we need as many manufacturers releasing stuff as often as economically possible, to keep the hobby going and competition is good for any sector, more choice and makes the sector innovative and competitive in price, innovation and imagination. But i have to say that Britains have become a joke.

Next time you could just type “Blah, blah, blah,” or “Yada, yada, yada,” and at this point it would be the equivalent of the previous five paragraphs.

I agree, well put. And your point was proved immediately.

Hopefully future videos will be filmed in Landscape rather than Portrait format, makes it easier to see guys.

“Blah, blah, blah,” or “Yada, yada, yada,” - Is that Latin! Why do you not add to the forum instead of inane comments. With an argue against what was posted?

How is your friend Ken?

Don't know, I've never met him, that must be some of the other members.

I didn't make any excuses or defend him, I was really just pointing out that the dead horse is pretty battered from all the kicking!
