Shannon...you're welcome...

those little pre-formed lakes are really easy to work with...
he sent me a couple just to try a long time ago...
all you do is trace it on a piece of blue board...
cut it out...
glue it in...
paint and pour...

they are even pre textured...

here's an old thread of one...

These things are dying for water! Or a teeny tiny scrap yard! What an amazing collection...now it's time to do them justice.

Wow John...

that is the perfect diorama for water...beautiful collection of ships...take a minute and look at some of the ship photos in water on the website link I posted earlier...

for anybody following this link...I just checked the project I'm working on to see if the Magic Water had hardened yet...

it's almost finished...but not quite...still a little tacky...

it's been almost 20 hours...so I expect tomorrow morning...it will be hardened completely and I will post a picture then...

it's kind of a cool climate where I live...in the 50's today...I think that influences the dry time some...but everything looks good right now...

Yes the photos on the website are really great, the sub is unreal! I can't wait to see your final results.

I would really like to try a harbor scene.......its on my list!:D

Thanks for the SBS, Michael! I took some time last night to go through from the beginning, and you do a nice job of demonstrating it.

Have you tried using the water for filling fountains (eg, Armand Bayardi resin dio pieces, or Verlinden or Andrea)? Or for waterfall applications? I remember seeing a piece by Alan and Marion Ball-or maybe it was just Mari0n's piece?--of some Indians negotiating a steep, wooded slope in the French and Indian War, and it features a stream tumbling down the slope. I wonder whether this product can be used for that application.

Prost!
Brad

(Now I remember more, I think Marian built a vignette based on NC Wyeth's illustrations for The Last of the Mohicans. I think it was at our show in 2008. Here's the link to the articles at Alan and Marion's website:

http://www.mb-miniatures.com/port/index.php?LastMohicanPart1&sid=d2d52ccbc3dc382c41676fe807445ee3)

A followup--Marion's piece is fantastic, but that's not the one I was thinking of. I can still picture it, 3 Indians descending a steep slope, next to a forest stream that flows down in rivulets. This will drive me nuts, now, till I find the pics. But I do think it was at our, ie, the MFCA show in one of the past two years.

Prost!
Brad

Thanks for the demo Michael, that is a must try product of the future. :)

Brad...

if you find it...post the picture please...

what I'm doing is about the most simplest application you can do with this product...

look on their website...there are some beautiful waterfalls...

Dave explained the process a little bit to me...

he's real nice about taking phone calls and tutoring...

I have seen that picture Brad is talking about. Where exactly escapes me, I'll keep my eyes peeled too.

As for the waterfall I think this should be your next dio adventure Mike, c'mon you can do it !!!!! :D :D :D

I just got home from golf...

it's been about 36 hours since I poured the Magic Water...

it is completely hardened...

it is now like a clear hard thick piece of plastic...

I set a soldier on it to show you it's hardened...

this is an easy product to use...quick...reliable...and lasts forever just like the day you made it...

I will add the terrain to the diorama now and do the groundwork...

thanks for watching...

I really recommend this product...

Treefrog sells it...

Scott...

the waterfall is not hard...

as I remember...

cut a strip of plastic cellophane...the length of your desired waterfall...

paint on the Magic Water...

just before it finally sets or hardens...

make streaks in a downward pattern in the gel...

then when it dries...

you ripple effect is permanent...

glue the cellophane from your reservoir lake to the top of your rocks...

or something like that...

How did your game go?Great post Mike might have to give this a go thanks mate.

I've seen some beautiful vignettes with water.Andrea miniatures has a book called Painting Indians and it has one vignette with a trapper and indian in a canoe going down a rapids and it is great.Marion Ball's vignette is great also.I have a water diorama kit from Woodland Scenics that says you can make a waterfall.Perhaps If I can get past my hesitation of starting something I'll give it a try.
