WW 1 Centenary Diorama (1 Viewer)

To all involved.

You guys are doing a mighty fine job on those two dioramas.
I bet it is quite a rewarding experience, not only to see it all growing and coming together, but the company of fellow collectors and the great possible results of combined efforts and contributions.

Respects and congratulations :salute::

Yes ... very rewarding. It also changes the way that the 'worth' of a figure is assessed. It becomes increasingly a question of judging how useful it would be in a diorama rather than just buying it because it is the next one in the series. It does not save me any money because I just spend the same but just choose a touch more carefully.

Brilliant fellas and I hope there wasn't any "punch up's" from disagreements in setting the dio up! Seriously though, you have done a fantastic job and now I am really looking forward to seeing this display in person! {sm3}

We hope after this year that we will do two large dios each year on different subjects, for example the ALH table may become a WW2 North Africa scene as the basic ground work is done. Our 'ideas' man Jack as a grand plan to do a Dambusters theme dio which will take some doing but we have a couple of years to think about it, I hope we can keep some sort of Australian connection to each dio we do. Any way here are some pics I have found to show that a dam dio can be done so now Jack will be like a dog with a bone....:wink2::smile2:

The photographs will be a good starting point. I have enormous faith in you, Brett, Bob and Phil to overcome any and all obstacles. As for an Australian connection - we have a Napoleonic dio in the works so we can only hope that when people see 'Austrian' figures they get confused!

Given the breadth of the ranges and figures available we will not run out of ideas any time soon. THE ALH diorama shows what can be done. If we ignore the connections we need to make with the College for a moment, I would love a D-Day dio (full beach and part of a town) or a full street and part bridge from Arnhem or a destroyed French town or even Ypres in 1918 with Australian troops moving through it to the Front. The problem is you work in wood not brick. You need to expand your skills!

We can say some of Wellingtons 'scum' became convicts and were transported, who knows it may even have been true.....{sm4}

Some may be aware that there has been much debate over a photograph of the charge at Beersheba and whether real or posed. Here is Brett's take on the event. Photos show the official photographer ahead of the charge. However a photographer, named Jenkins, from a rival newspaper, without the necessary authorisation has also got ahead of the charge. A Lighthorse Sgt takes appropriate action before HQ finds out.

Other image shows Wellington watching the charge.

The photograph of the charge now widely considered to be of a re-enactment.
