WW 1 Centenary Diorama (2 Viewers)

It is a great pleasure to be involved in this project but the photography adds a dimension that takes it to the next level - thanks Marc

Another fun day spent with the Doc and Bob working on the Great War dio which is coming along nicely, a slower project because of the different terrain involved as we need to allow things to dry eg. mud, mud and more mud, trench walls, sand bags etc. It as well that Bob seems to know what he is doing as the Doc and myself don't :wink2: We all so added some finishing touches to the ALH dio and set the plastic cover on to the table which I must say comes up a treat. But being the goose that I am at times I forgot the box brownie so no photos of the days progress but alas Bob bought his along so he or the Doc may post some.
Cheers,
Wayne.

On with the cover - this was the first part of the project we ordered manufactured externally and it was time to add it ---with a degree of trepidation as we were all doubtful of what effect this would have on the dio. But wonder of wonders, it works really well and has a unifying effect on the sweeping action - it was hard to drag ourselves away and get on with the second dio

Early days - just a tentative start on one corner
Mud, mud and more mud - the recipe for the attempt is coloured tile grout, plaster-of paris, poster paint and sawdust with lots of water - spray when dry with pva and water solution to dry with a wet look. The organic matter is collected from park and garden and the pva mix seals the finished layer to avoid the dio taking on a 'life' of its own

Balsa, Tamiya sandbags, Megatreat in three colours, and river sand from Bunnings fill out the list of materials - and of course the ubiquitous paddle pop sticks - and some painted corrugated card as corrugated iron.

Jack (aka Doc Martin) has his telephone box in the room at back :); and yes, that is Brett in a tie :salute::

I have to say that only the dio scrubs up well in any of the photos {sm3} And that shirt the Doc is wearing is only surpassed by his Elvis one {sm2}
PS. who ever invented the tie should be tarred and feathered!
Wayne.

With two dodgy looking characters putting that cover on, I would have been holding my breath! {eek3}{sm4}

Looking good fellas (the cover, trees and other products that is!).

Tom

Again, absolutely amazing dio fellas, congrat's for a job well done.

P.S. Nice ties, are they clip ons?? ^&grin

Tom

Hi Tom... the ties were real ones with knots... which leads me to this... I was there for just over an hour to take the pics... and MARTY started tying his tie when I arrived... and the overall dio pics were shot at the end... therefore we can deduce that it took MARTY a good hour to tie his tie... ^&grin

cheers

Thanks for the insight into Marty's tie tying endeavours Marc and I now know who I won't go and see to get my tie tied!! {sm4}

Dear All

Two years ago when I joined the Forum I chose 'Jack' as my Forum name so that, like Batman, I could live in the shadows. It does not help when people call me 'Martin' or 'Marty'. By the way, Martin actually means 'warlike one'. It is from Mars, the Roman god of war. Just something to think about.
