Had the Grandsons coming for a visit so thought I would put up a quick mini diorama. In this case focused on the Red Baron and using a mix of some K&C and JJ releases in this era.

First up is an overall shot of the scene, then various close ups ending with a card I found in my Fathers stuff which I think is from the 1930's Skybirds series..........seemed like a good piece of eye candy to put with the display. Map table is one of those 50 cent pieces you find bottom fishing at shows. It is from the Strombaker (sp) WWI German Command sets from the 60's painted and weathered to look at realistic as i could get it. The Maxcim is an HR accessory from the 60's as well.

that looks fantastic!!! so many different new and old pieces- love the dogs!! they always seem to know where the good time is to be had!! {sm4}

Outstanding dio. Love the mix of manufacturers and the iconic red Tripe. I wish I had purchased the staff car as I would have liked it to go with an inspection of the aerodrome dio, too. Short sighted of me.:redface2: That is a Skybirds issue. I have several of them, but not Richthofen. Good job. -- Al

This diorama has great intentions. Accordingly we have a Fokker DR1 obviously a Richthofen depiction circa 1918 replete with latin crosses. The figurines spliced in are circa 1914 featuring troops wearing pickelhaubes. A nice idea but an historical interpretation that does not add up.

this is a superd dio well photographed and with some excellent figures and aircraft which, blend well together. Now, I am all for historical accuracy but, sometimes one can overlook all of that and have some fun with figures and aircraft et al and, this is what has been done here and, very well

My apoligies to Jefman on the specific accuracy.........but it is all in fun of setting up the display and getting it close enough to enjoy without being a rivit counter. My Grandsons certainly got a big kick out of it, and for me that is what counts. I will in the future besure to put HIGHLY INACCURATE in the subject line so as not to ofend anyone.

--As for the staff car..........it took me a year to find one, and trust me it wasn't cheap when I did at the Long Island show. Last figure was Prince Willie, another next to impossible recent find, but at least at a reasonable price.

Walt: I did not intend to offend or to provoke. In fact any person who would create such a thoughtful diorama and share it with others should be applauded. The written word can sometimes be taken with multiple interpretations but in my view your creating that for your grandson's speaks incredible volumes about you and you should be proud to share some great enjoyment with them. We all draw various levels of satisfaction from this hobby and pointing out a viewpoint on historical accuracy was not meant to be a back handed slap. I would choose education and enlightenment to historical context and if I pointed this out in a distasteful manner I extend my most sincerest apologizes. Put me down as a believer in the hobby, sharing thoughts with children and grandchildren and to people who share their work via the internet. Slip a Fokker E-lll into that diorama instead of the Triplane and you have a home run.

Very nice display of WWl figures and vehicle. I enjoy viewing the set-up. I too am working on having my Grandson become more involved in this hobby. I still have the old Strombecker sets that someday I might paint.:eek: John

Awesome dio love it mate well done......................{bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

Very nice diorama. Very well done. Thanks a lot for sharing with us.

Jefman......thanks for the kind followup words. I really do enjoy putting together these small vignetttes/mini dioramas and trying different means and combinations of varios bits and pieces even if not always 100% accurate. Guess I am more of a visual collector. But I promise never to have a Viking throwing a hand grenade.
