I've loved the action in the veladrome this time,i thought Australia would pose more of a threat than it turned out. That Madison looked like a tough race.

I just chose "Other (Gee, I'm old)" because the 1936 Games were not on the list. Have we forgotten what a thrill it was, how satisfying it was, to see Jessie Owens drub Hitler in the Games that were supposed to highlight the superiority of the Aryan, and the New Order.

Prost!
Brad

Gee, sorry I missed that one. I knew Owens won the gold , did Hitler get silver or bronze ???

Reminds me of the Allied counter-propaganda piece, satrizing Hitler's description of the new Aryan generations ("(they will be sleek,) as hard as Krupp steel, as fleet as greyhounds, as tough as leather") as "What is the Aryan? He is as blond as Hitler, as fleet as Goebbels, as sleek as Goering"

How about General Paulus for the high jump!;)

Hey guys

This is what happens when Political B~~~~SH'' Gets put on centre stage :mad:with the Olympics and the efforts of athelets gets over looked.

Sit back chill and watch some great sport like the end of the 10k open swim or the indoor cycling or the windsurfing or the sailing!!!

Save all the Political Mumbo Jumbo for the elections or when it counts!!!

Indeed. Frankly what I long for is a return to the massive real time raw coverage available to sat dish owners for the Barcelona Olympics. Of course it could be done in better quality with digital dish networks today but it was truely remarkable to be able to find and tape your favorit sport, usually without the typical network cuts and uninformed commentators. Now don't get me wrong, some of the popular events, like gymnastics, have great commentators but others, like my sport of eventing, simply do not and have producers who have no idea what to cover and what not to. For example, the recent near perfect cross country round of individual US silver medalist Gina Miles and McKinlaigh was hardly shown in favor of the then leading Aussie rider who didn't even finish in the top 10. For the sat coverage of Barcelona, all of each of those rides would have been shown, as well as the rides for each other competitor; now that was coverage and a great Olympic moment (many of them really)

That's a wonderful site, incredible amounts of detail.

I'm wondering which events you enjoyed the most? Although I enjoyed the track and field quite a bit, I really like the rowing competitions. I don't row but for some reasons really like them and am thinking about trying a kayak.

Brad, I didn't watch much of the games just some Weightlifting, Shooting, Basketball and Football. I usually watch more of the Winter Olympic sports as they are so different to what we have in Australia. I can only stand watching so much swimming, especially when we loose to that American guy, what's his name again ;)

Thought the games were fantastic this year.I was hooked from the start.Watched so many sports that i wouldn't normally watch including Badminton,Swimming,Cycling(of course;))Archery and even BMX(even though our girl crahed out). The performance of our team this time has really fired up the enthusiasm of this country and now everybody seems to be counting down to 2012.

Hey M8, we did ok as a country considering the small population ;)

Btw, any of you guys been watching the Paralympics? I haven't seen much of it but a few days ago there was this Chinese girl in a swimming medly and she only had one arm, most of which was missing. I thought how unfair is that putting that girl up against people with two arms and two legs. And bugger me if she didn't blitz them all up until the last lap which was Freestyle. She ended up coming fourth, but I thought, man us humans are pretty amazing giving those dolphins a run for their money
