Well the Conte website has a couple of teaser paint masters up on the webmaster's blog showing two of the upcoming Zouave figures. They look pretty sharp, though I did note that the private is incorrectly shown with gold thread around the red tape on the uniform vest and jacket, which was only on NCO and officer uniforms in the 5th NY, which these figures represent. :rolleyes:Dropped them a line about it and hopefully this can be fixed, because they are otherwise very very nice and I've been looking for good matte editions of these guys for nearly 10 years!

Yeah, or even the plastic ones.

If you have been waiting 10 years for these types of figures and you are counting on Conte to give them to you, add another 10 years!

Well the Plastic Spartans seem like they will come in under a year.;)

Yep, you got that right! I'm really looking forward to them too; they're right around the corner. That was a FAST "10 years".

Hey Joe, so you are going to get some of those too? Well of course I owe you for helping me complete my metal Spartan quest in under 10 years.;):D Let's both hope we are right about this version.

So by previous posts Im presuming we cant expect to see these guys for quite some time?
Interestingly I had the same question on the Spartans when I first came here. The only reliable answer I think is that no one really knows, except perhaps RC and I am not even sure of that..;)

Guys
Don't get too excited, don't hold your breath and never swallow anything you read on their web-site. They have created a big swell about moving to a new storage warehouse-used as the basis for their recent two for one sale-My question would be:- Why move to a larger facility? When they rarely if ever have enough stock to satisfy their customer and dealer base. Evidence- just look at the web-sites of all the main Conte US dealers- Out of stock-reordered- date of availability-Unknown. In my book that's appalling service from a supposedly main line manufacturer.

Reb an ex- Conte collector cos I can never find any for sale.:(

C'mon Reb, What are you going to do for reinforcements?

UKReb have you considered that the move to his new warhouse maybe to another state. Richard has stated the Spartans will be shipping from North Carolina which may be the location of his new warehouse therefore making sense to reduce his inventory to reduce reducing his freight cost of moving. If his new warhouse was to remain in the Las Vegas area wouldn't it make sense to ship from there instead of freighting the new Spartans across country to North Carolina. Just food for thought Reb.........The Lt.

Good point Joe but to be honest I really dont care where his warehouse is or what State he ships from just as long as he gets some products into his dealers shops.

RC appears to be able to only juggle one ball in the air at a time- It was the same with his disastrous Sons of the South they took ages to reach the stores from his release pictures. He then concentrated on his metal Spartans and Immortals now it's the plastic Spartans- but just try and get any of his Alamo or older Civil War figures or his Collectors pieces or Rogers Rangers yet still all advertised on the Conte web-site.
Sorry Joe still disappointed and hope you have better luck with the Zulus which is a fair bet they will come well well before these Zouaves,

Reb

I've never realized Conte got so far behind on things. Every time I've ever wanted something its been available...maybe Im just lucky.

Likely that is part of it but in all fairness it depends on what product and where in the cycle of the product you order. I started the Spartans late and they were mostly out of stock when I started. They still are some 6 months later with no target in sight. Conversely the Normans and Vikings have good stock and somewhere around 50% of the ACW figures are in stock. Overall it seems as though the Company's focus shifts to the next new thing and if you miss the first release, you are left to Ebay, the smaller dealers or SOL. I have learned not to depend on any date but buy what I want as soon as it comes out since otherwise I may not see it in my life time.;):(

I would second that assessment

All of this is relative to the proportionate level of desire. The more one desires the more unreasonable the wait. Try getting a Rolling Thunder set!:mad::mad::mad:

Best shot would be ebay-but you will pay top dollar-Why? cos the're aint any in any of the stores-plenty of pictures on the web-site but the store's empty- That's the point I'm trying to get over to you guys-but obviously failing

I think you made the point just fine. Again, it depends and perhaps I was lucky as well but I did fill my Spartan gaps on Ebay with no premium and on average a bit below retail. It did take some time however and certainly you would know better about the ACW items.

Yeah, I get it too. Conte has a lousy habit of not following up with demand. One can get some of the older less desirable sets from some of the stores on ebay for a good price but other stockists as you say have none of the high demand stuff. Too bad because some of the sculpts are really nice. BTW there are a few later Spartans sets at Sierra but none of the earlier ones.
