Bored Tonight...Post a Diorama, LOL (3 Viewers)

I first started collecting painted metal soldiers in fall of 2021. About a year into it, I discovered King and Country had done a Bill Mauldin + Willie and Joe set. I had the Bill Mauldin's Army comic strip book since the early 1990s and was a fan ever since. While working on a project for the US Postal Service, I purchased the Bill Mauldin stamps. Finally, I purchased the Drawing Fire book while visiting the Mauldin Exhibit at Chicago's Pritzker Military Museum. I also found Mr. Mauldin's grave at Arlington National Cemetery and paid my respects.

A very cool 😎 K&C set indeed. Bill Mauldin has always been one of my favorite cartoonist. He was a favorite of my Grandfather as well. In the 1950's and early 60's, when visiting my grand dad, I'd always enjoy reading his copy of Up Front as well as his copies of another favorite, Sad Sack. I have three copies of Mauldin's book as well as copies of Sgt. George Baker's Sad Sack. One of my Up Front books is signed and dated in 1945 by it's first owner. The red jacketed Sad Sack is signed and dated 10-03-1944. Great stuff.

Great collection. I didn't realize how much other work he had done until I saw the exhibit.

I'm hoping to see more of Kevin's photographs and narrative in the Battle of Arnhem thread. Probably my favourite thread on the forum.

Kevin,

I agree with Louis, the Sherman Flail tank is an iconic machine, well represented by Figarti and looks great at the head of your impressive column of advancing Brits.
