Things that annoy me (2 Viewers)

I have to agree somewhat about this; for me, I was slammed with orders right up until the 24th, then trying to get to social engagements and do Christmas shopping, then I got a nasty cough a week beforehand, couldn't shake it, felt off on Christmas Eve, ended up at urgent care Christmas day, have a touch of Bronchitis, am on meds, feel a lot better, but it put a damper on my celebration.

This is now the third time I got sick around Christmas.

Cover your coughs you jackasses.

No fun.
I have Bronchitis too. Finally get some days off and ruined by sickness.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully they gave you meds, I got some yesterday and feel a lot better.

Yesterday morning, not so much, called my health provided at 5:30AM and thank God they had an opening for someone to see me, another day and I think I would have been screwed as I also had a fever, it's already gone a day later.

Mothers and daughters make the holidays...they do all the work...without their efforts...it's just another day...and we all learned by now that it's all about the kids...which none of us are...but I bet it makes you all smile when you see your relative's young children open their presents...we had a very large and very eclectic gathering of relatives partake at all the holiday gatherings at my parents house...DiBellas, Schroeders, Radoviches, Millers...Italian, German, Serbian, Greek...what a nightmare for the wives and daughters to spend 2 days cooking that we gulped down in 15 minutes and then loaded the sink with dirty dishes...not even counting the countless hours they spent decorating the house...still...as I seemed to outlive all my Galveston relatives...I sorely miss those gatherings and cherish fond memories of all of them...

Agree with you, always seem to get something when i have a little free or down time. heard a healthcare academic once talkabout it on the radio and he was saying there is a theory that your body knows you are relaxing and some how your immune system just takes a break or your immune system is on high or hyper levels in the busy period, so protects you when you are busy. I think it could be people extend themselves too much in the run up to Chritmas, and when you finally stop your body thinks it is payback time.

Used to have issue with people coming into work in office when they had a cold/flu and they think they were 'soldiering through', when really they were infecting everyone. After a few complaints the company put in a mandate that if you were ill and told to go home then you did or it was a written warning, we did have full pay sick leave for 5 working days and then if you could work from home you still got paid. Office Manager, she was incharge of the rule, took great delight telling senior Directors they had to go home as they was ill.

Good place to work, 25 days a year holiday, not including nat holidays, 3 mandatory training days and minimum annual inflation salary increases, 18% company pension contribution, plus subsidised low rate loans for cars, not affect me, but 12 months maternity leave, with 75% pay. Two years after new company took over, i took voluntary exit, with a payoff [same as redundancy but means they can replace you as the job is still there, they did, with a graduate on £26k, instead of my £85k], they cut everything, including corners, wanting more, previously was very profitable, 6 years after new owners it went under, lost too many contracts, they saw the price/cost of everything and the value of nothing. 6-9 months after i left they would contact me about projects i had worked on, not staff left with the technical and/or experience to complete the final stages or the final reports. Average employee age went down from mid 40s to late 20s, got rid of us and replaced us with cheaper 20somethings and recent graduates. Answered their enquiry via email with a Pdf attachment which in the email i said had all the info they needed, one sentence I DO NOT WORK FOR YOU ANYMORE.

Annoyed me, as i liked working for the old company. Good laugh, hard interesting work and felt useful.

I love the "soldiering through" crack and yes, all they do is infect the whole office.

The other day as I pulled into the parking lot of the doctors office, some moron was out front hacking his brains out not covering his cough; smart move, infecting everyone as they went in to make a bad situation worse.

Think of all the objects you touch in stores, door handles, etc, etc that sick people molly all over, a constant battle, I also think the stress of the holiday season wears you down too, used to be a fun time, but as you get older, it's a hectic time.

Thanks for saving me from sounding like the Grinch, George. Dad opened the presents and made a little diorama because he's the founder of the feast so we will post our Qadesh soon. Thanks to Julie and everyone who helped us get what we wanted.
Ma's health is very rough as well. I suppose that was a constant depressant in the back of my mind.
Keep X-Mas going! Soldier on.
Paddy
Thanks for helping to keep things in perspective this Holiday Season.

I am guilty as the next when it comes to losing sight of what really matters at Christmas time.

More traffic, endless airport lines, packed grocery stores, delayed mail etc. all drive me crazy.

Meanwhile families are dealing with real world, important and impactful things like your Mom’s health.

All the best to your Mom and Happy Holidays from my family to yours.

"One Battle After Another." I gave this one a try because of the buzz but it was unwatchable. Glamorizing domestic terrorism is bad enough. Boring people to death is even worse. I almost couldn't believe this was a real film much less that it is a contender for best film. Only in Hollywood.

I thought it was just me; I heard nothing but rave reviews about this movie, so like you, I gave it a try.

It was terrible; beyond terrible really, I bailed after about 50 minutes, I gave it a shot but, wow, awful.

I guess you and me don't know Oscar worthy movies when we see them...........which is fine by me, this movie sucked.

Funny posts guys. I see why this thread remains popular and not just for the controversy.
So my chest cold is better (at the moment...) but my stomach still has a French chef making garlic pressed duck in it - still, I'm OK.
Mom's alive but not kicking too hard.
Dad's keeping all of ours butts safe, including doggie who got a cheap but enormous dino-plushie and other toys.
Fav song this yr: Carol of the Bells.
We have one more Hittite chariot coming from TF for Qadesh. That will be all 4 Hitts plus 3 Egyptians (we have our old K&C Pharaoh so 4 v 4) plus some infantry so we will post when it comes with our Jacobite Piper & Mongol soon. We will post in a week or so. There is no sun in Chi-town these days...

I have found the best and most entertaining movies never win awards and are usually hated by so called critic experts. I view movie critics in the same vein as food critics and tv meteorologists. They are the only job holders in the USA who consistently get rewarded for being dead wrong 90% of the time or more. AND the worst thing is, the minions actually listen to these morons on a daily basis. If you figure out the WHY in that statement, then you will find gold as no one has ever done it!

I never see a single story in the media about COVID. Are people still dying from it? Almost no one appears to be getting the vaccine and there hasn't been much effort to promote it. Quite a contrast between now and a couple years ago when it was supposedly the end of the world. If a single person gets the measles, however, it is a national story. CNN was recently reporting that a person at some airport a couple weeks ago had the measles. One person. My spidey senses tell me that the media selectively chooses those narratives that they want to promote and ignore others. COVID served its purpose during the 2020 election cycle and after that they were done with it.

Whenever I go in for a physical, my doctor pushes the COVID booster on me, I decline.

I was all for getting the first shot/conned into it was more like it, I'm pissed I fell for the panic over the Fall variant (the one governor Fatso in IL made everyone wear masks for at indoor gatherings) and got that booster.

I got the shot and the one booster; and still got COVID three times, each time it was a mild case of the sniffles..................had I known then what I know now, I never would have gotten any shots.

As you said, COVID served its purpose in the 2020 election, that's for sure.

Yeah you're right the main stream media push whatever narrative they're told to, regardless of facts and the truth. Just look at how effective they were spreading lies and fear regarding covid and now attempting to do the same thing with a few measles cases. Its pathetic....

Brave of you to post this on here 'Warrior' as many would take 'Umbridge' with your stance. Thankfully there are more like you now-a-days, awakened to the scam, choosing to be informed or at the very least questioning what they were told and trusting their gut.......
